Why do Australians love Christmas?

Several years ago, Australia spent more on Christmas per capita than any other nation. The Americans are beating us this year, but we are still right up there. The average household in Australia will spend $969 each this Christmas, based on all expenses including gifts, food and decorations. That is a grand total of 18.8 billion dollars. And what about the fact that ‘Carols by Candlelight’ celebrations are held all throughout December and attended by several million Australians? Many of these people would never go to a church at all throughout the year but are happy to pack the esky…

Muslim driver refuses to take passengers with Christmas ham won in raffle

This real-world scenario is a great thought experiment to test our thinking on religious freedom. Do we believe the radical secularist view that there should be freedom from religion and zero tolerance of public expressions thereof, do we believe that someone should be able to do absolutely anything if a sincerely held religious belief, or if somewhere between those extremes: exactly where? An elderly couple had just won a Christmas ham in a raffle at their local club where they’d gone out for the night, and responsibly booked an Uber to take them home at about 10pm. Lebanon is 54% Muslim and 40% Christian so it wasn’t a wildly improbable supposition. It’s hard to assume the 6% of other or no religions would all deviate from that cultural norm. Anti-Discrimination Claim Against the Prophets

Reports have surfaced that the serial litigant, Gary Burns, is on the warpath against the Hebrew prophets. More particularly, he’s proposing to take the prophet, Ezekiel, to the Anti-Discrimination Board. Ezekiel is cited as condemning the sins of Sodom as haughty and ‘an abomination’ before God (Ezek.16:50). Strangely enough, Mr Burns has drawn inspiration from the history of the papacy itself. In 897, Pope Stephen VI (896-897) is supposed to have taken a dislike to the teaching and practices of his predecessor, Pope Formosus (891-896). As a consequence, Stephen had the remains of Formosus dug up, arrayed in full papal…

They said they just wanted gay marriage, now we’re being told to accept child drag queens, incest and bestiality

It was once said that if there is no God, everything is permitted. Every day, our post-Christian culture is demonstrating that to be true. The reason for this is because, without God, our culture has no moral ‘oughts’ and ‘ought-nots’. Actions and behaviours have no meaningful moral basis to conform to if concepts such as ‘right’ and ‘wrong’ only exist within our minds. If there is no God, then we are merely an unintentional and meaningless chemical by-product of time and chance working on matter. ‘Morality’ is ultimately incompatible with such a worldview. What one chemical does to another is…

Calling art ‘the plaything of the rich’, ‘art is now considered to be whatever the artist does.’ Art has become a slave to the post-modern mind. Under the foppish, vain lordship of the unhinged, vague emptiness of moral relativity, art has lost all meaning. An ‘impersonal, dehumanised’ and desensitised public, is no longer…

Peter FitzSimons condemns Christians at Christmas

There’s only one Person the pirate from Neutral Bay despises more than the Queen of the Commonwealth, and that’s the King of the Universe who was born in a manger. Anyone daring to respectfully repeat His Words will be the target of Pirate Pete’s unbridled condemnation and vilification. Margaret Court and Israel Folau have been the criminals he’s persecuted relentlessly with his right to hate speech. Their crimes? They had the audacity to suggest God’s design for marriage was exclusive and that rebellion against God is likely to result in His judgement. “Is it not a tad presumptuous as to…

The Climate Change Blame Game and the Question of Cloud Seeding

The Climate Change Blame Game and the Question of Cloud Seeding

Inciting people to rage against their neighbour in the name of the environment, or because of concerns about the climate, has been a constant part of human society’s obsession with who’s to blame for acts of God, or natural disasters. In the pagan tribal cultures of the Americas, a bad crop meant another child sacrifice. Described by Cortez as ‘the most horrid and abominable custom; where many girls and boys and even adults, and in the presence of these idols they open their chests while they are still alive and take out their hearts and entrails and burn them before…

The False Prophets of Climate Change

The False Prophets of Climate Change

With the recent bushfires that have ravaged the eastern coast of NSW, many are proclaiming that the prophecies of environmentalists are being fulfilled before our very eyes. We are in the beginning of a mass extinction, and all you can talk about is money, and fairy tales of eternal economic growth. How dare you! But how bad are things, really? Sadly, we live in a post-truth age, which means that unbridled hysteria often trumps reality. And this…

Children’s hospital says, surgically removing the breasts of young girls may be “appropriate care” for trans teens

The largest youth gender clinic in Australia wants to perform mastectomies on gender-confused girls under 17-years of age. According to The Australian, clinic director, Dr Michelle Telfer from the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne told the state’s mental health royal commission in July that mastectomies improved the mental health of trans boys and are “an integral part of the transition process.” The Telfer clinic, which treats children and adolescents up to 17-years, does not currently offer surgery, however, according to Dr Telfer “many” girls who identify as boys are asking for “chest reconstructive surgery.” Dr Telfer has called for surgery to…

The Story of the Trump Impeachment: A Tale of Two Bureaucracies

The Story of the Trump Impeachment: A Tale of Two Bureaucracies

Democracy is a very old word. It comes from the Greek words demos meaning ‘the people’ and kratos meaning ‘power’. The opposite of democracy is aristocracy, the power of aristos, your ‘betters’ or, in other words, the nobility. History has repeatedly been shaped by the endless struggle between the strong who abuse power and the weak who resent it. In the 1800s, for instance, France had a people’s revolution. The commoners rioted. They killed a whole bunch of nobles. They burnt things. Overall they successfully de-fanged their aristos, thus ushering in a new era where the government would be for,…
