Government departments have wasted more than $6-million tax dollars on lavish lunches, fine dining and entertainment in just 12-months, 9News revealed. Figures detailed in answers to Senate Estimates enquiries showed the following:
- $1.06-million was spent by The Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander Studies
- $853,000 by the Trade and Investment Commission
- $805,787 by the Department of Environment and Energy
- $707,665 by the Department of Communications and the Arts
- $353,893 by the Department of Education
- $113,000 by the Health Department
- $34,700 by the Department of Infrastructure
