WATCH: John MacArthur Enters the Pulpit To A Standing Ovation After Telling the Government “We Will Not Bow”
Because nothing says “Black Lives Matter” quite like encouraging tens of thousands of black people and BLM supporters to gather en masse during a global pandemic that’s apparently so dangerous, and so deadly, that not even a church could responsibly gather without risking their lives and the lives of everyone they come in contact with.
Church Takes a Bold Stand Against State Overreach: “We Will Not Bow to Intrusive Restrictions”
Dr John MacArthur, along with the elders of Grace Community Church in Los Angeles, have taken a courageous stand against the “intrusive restrictions” government officials are attempting to impose on churches in California. In a statement issued on Friday, Dr MacArthur accused civic leaders of exceeding their “legitimate jurisdiction” by ordering churches in the state to limit or suspend all meetings indefinitely. Dr MacArthur noted that while civil government is invested with divine authority to rule the state, civic rulers are not granted jurisdiction over the church. In other words, “freedom of worship is a command of God, not a…
July 4 Celebrations Banned, Protests Permitted: Patriots in California Defy Governor
California’s Governor Gavin Newsom delivered a proclamation marking the 244th year since the Revolutionary War that officially severed the 13 Colonies feudal cord with the British Empire. While Newsom’s ‘Independence Day’ proclamation was framed by the American national holiday, his message was more a short treatise on stopping the spread of the Wuhan COVID-19 virus. In an inversion of the American Revolutionary goal of independence, liberty from a tyrannical government, fraternity, equality and self-determination under God, Newsom called for obedience to the state, as he gave special exemptions to protestors, and enforced compliance with his government’s “emergency” COVID-19 counter-measure decrees…
Jesus Overturning Tables Is Not A Licence to Riot and Destroy Other People’s Property
Most of us would remember the popular Christian arm bracelets with the acronym ‘WWJD?’ The initials stand for What Would Jesus Do? It was a question that was supposed to remind people to deal with every situation the way Jesus would. One comical response to the question was to suggest that “flipping over tables and chasing people with a whip was within the realm of possibility.” That is, after all, something Jesus did, right? But is it licence for us to do likewise? Is it OK for us to destroy other people’s property in the name of social justice? It’s…
Victoria’s “Vichy” Government Is Undermining Australia’s Relationship Reset With the Chinese Communist Party
Sitting state Labor members defending the Communist Chinese Party, while simultaneously attacking their federal government colleagues is not a good look for Australian Labor. The attacks against Andrew Hastie, George Christensen, and Scott Morrison, reveal a party divided by arrogant far-left factions advancing Australia further into a social, cultural, moral, political and economic abyss. The reason why Labor governments in both Western Australia and Victoria warm to any “kiss and makeup” approach between the Australian and Communist Chinese governments, is because Labor has political capital invested in the relationship. Tapping into China’s flawed totalitarian powerhouse gives them the illusion of…
Government Needs to Get out of the Way: Here’s Why I’m Sceptical of Government Programs
There’s a big difference between politicians doing something, and politicians making it look like they’re doing something. What looks good for us isn’t always what’s good for us. The image we are sold can often be dissimilar to the product we end up with. For instance, social distancing laws have created an image of police protecting politicians, instead of the police protecting the people. Look at how famously the police have broken their own social distancing rules while enforcing the will of the political class. Another example is the sleight of hand when it comes to taxation, the important social…
Pandemic Panic: Where is God in our Current Crisis?
We are living in a different world to the one we were in a week ago. In December 2019, a pneumonia outbreak was detected in the city of Wuhan, China. It was soon traced to a new strain of coronavirus—but not before infected travellers had crossed international borders in every direction. A few months on and the virus has spread to over 160 countries and resulted in over 7,000 deaths. While something like 98% of people who contract COVID-19 recover, the elderly and those with chronic health problems are most at risk. Governments the world over are deeply concerned that…
UK Government says calling someone ugly is now a “hate crime”
The UK Government is continuing its war on words and they’re now setting its sights on those who verbally insult other people for the way they look. UK Home Office shared a minute-long video on social media on Friday saying it is now a “hate crime” to insult someone’s appearance. “No one should be abused and insulted because of the way they look,” Home Office tweeted. “If you are – it’s a hate crime.” The video features a number of individuals with facial birthmarks, scarring and deformities recounting negative comments they’ve received because of their appearance. “Every day we get…
Woe to us if we are ever governed by the whim of lawyers and activists instead of the rule of law
The closing remark from The Australian’s Janet Albrechtsen, in writing on the Australian Securities & Investments Commission’s (ASIC) quest for more judicial power through “new fairness laws”, made a pointed case about the danger of being ruled by fiat and whim of the bureaucratic caste. Citing NSW Chief Justice Tom Bathurst, Albrechtsen argued that vague edicts – based on ill-defined and poorly understood laws that we imagine reflect “the moral conscience of society” – mean “we will be ruled by lawyers not the rule of law.’ In other words, the danger before us is a society enslaved to an interpreter’s…
Remembering Roger Scruton: Finding Consolation, Fighting Anxiety and Rediscovering God’s Moral Equilibrium
From a post of mine from 2017 when I first engaged with Scruton on a serious level. His passing this week is a monumental loss, but his legacy, bravado and inspiration, will continue on. It is my hope that this post will exemplify why. In the video below, conservative philosopher Roger Scruton is interviewed for an hour and a half by Dutch journalist Wim Kayzer, as part of a series called, ‘Of Beauty and Consolation‘. The whole interview is worth watching. Since it is quite lengthy, my purpose here will be to share some of the more stand-out points. What this…
What if there is proof that God became a baby at Christmas?
I love Christmas carols. They are the soundtrack of the season. As great as carols are, it’s possible to make it through the whole month of December, hear these tunes, and yet not tune in to what the carols are really saying. On closer inspection, Christmas carols make some audacious claims. Consider just a few lines from Hark the Herald Angels Sing: Veiled in flesh, the Godhead see, Hail, the incarnate Deity. Pleased as man, with men to dwell, Jesus, our Immanuel. What an absurd idea. God being limited to one place at a time? God learning how to walk? God……
When we shouldn’t feed the hungry: The goal of welfare should never be to make poverty more comfortable
Sometimes it’s unloving to feed the hungry. That might sound odd considering everything the Bible has to say about taking care of the poor. But there is a time when feeding hungry people can actually do them harm. In 2 Thessalonians 3:10, the Apostle Paul said, “if anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat.” We eat to satisfy our hunger, but Paul wants certain people to remain hungry, namely, those who are not willing to work. This is because Paul knows that when you feed a man who is unwilling to work, you kill his God-given motivation…
Christian doctor suing government after he was fired for identifying patients according to their biological gender
A Christian doctor who was fired by the UK government after he refused to identify his patients by anything other than their biological gender, is suing his former employer for discrimination. Dr David Mackereth worked for 26-years as an NHS doctor before he was sacked from his position as a Department for Work and Pensions disability assessor. The 55-year-old was deemed “unfit to work” after he refused to identify his patients by their preferred gender pronoun. The father-of-four said it would be dishonest for him to act contrary to his beliefs and warned of the dangers in not allowing doctors…
Government bans advert that says ‘a heart beats at four weeks’ after Facebook user is offended by the fact
An Emily’s Voice promotional which featured the words, “a heart beats at four weeks”, on four Newcastle buses has been removed. The action was taken after an outraged Newcastle resident accused the pro-life promotional material of being “dangerous propaganda; a guilt driven directive on what [a woman should] do with their body.” The complaint was posted on Facebook to the NSW Transport Minister’s page and “action was immediately taken” to tear the material down. Emily’s Voice is an organization that seeks to encourage people to consider alternatives to abortion. Their mission is to “help Australians fall in love with the…
Jeff Durbin on Australian culture: Big government is the result of abandoning the Christian foundation.
A few months ago, Apologia Studios visited Australia and New Zealand as part of their End Abortion Now conference. During their time in Sydney, Jeff Durbin, Luke Pierson, and Zach Conover reflected on the state of the culture in the West. Jeff Durbin: “One of the interesting things to note, both in American culture and in Australian culture — and really with any culture that was once started by Christians, or the Christian worldview was in the atmosphere — is when you look at how those cultures have abandoned their foundations now, you don’t just get things like the culture…
Phil Robertson: “The problem is that we’ve pushed God out”
I’m cautious of any and all mainstream news, including that which comes from conservatives. It’s good practice to read between the lines, and really take in what’s being said. Besides that, I do it because I’m no mindless drone. It pays to be informed. Phil Robertson’s points here are excellent. I agree with most of them. I do, however, find myself conflicted about universal health care. The package for any country has to have the right balance. There should be a safety net that doesn’t hinder the free market but ensures citizens get the best care available. While being fully…
Is homeschooling over parenting?
One of the more vicious stigmas attached to homeschooling, particularly by The Greens, is that homeschooling is the equivalent of child abuse. While this misconception and prejudice, isn’t shared by mainstream Australia, the view is reflected in the assumption that homeschooling is the equivalent of over parenting. Over parenting, however, is not the same as homeschooling. Over parenting involves doing everything for the child. Over parenting is the parent smothering the child in too much kindness. An old term for this is ‘’babying or pampering’’. This is a term more properly applied to the parents who refuse to let their…
Redistribution of wealth: Socialist Greens push to increase quality of life for people on the dole, successful Australians to hand over $10.5-billion.
Greens leader Richard Di Natale wants successful Australian’s to hand over $10.5 billion of their hard-earned money in an effort to increase the dole to $75 per week. Those earning more than $300,000 will be forced to fund Di Natale’s multi-billion-dollar pay out. “Restricting the tax deductions for 45,000 people could pay for a new quality of life for 838,000 Australians,” Di Natale said. Quality of life? How does increasing the quality of life for people on the dole encourage them to get out there and work for something better? Ronald Reagan once rightly said, “We should measure welfare’s success…
‘Unfit to work’: Doctor sacked by the government for refusing to renounce his Christian faith
The UK government has fired a 55-year-old doctor after he refused to renounce his Christian faith, the Sunday Telegraph revealed. Dr David Mackereth worked for 26 years as an NHS doctor but was sacked from his position as a Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) disability assessor for refusing to identify patients with a gender contrary to their genetic and biological sex as established at birth. “I’m not attacking the transgender movement,” Dr Macereth told the Telegraph. “But, I’m defending my right to freedom of speech, and freedom of belief.” The father of four was reportedly deemed “unfit to work”…
Christian teacher reported to Counter Terrorism as “radicalisation threat” after telling student, “God loves you”
A government-funded pre-apprenticeship academy in Bristol reported a Christian teacher to Counter Terrorism after they deemed her a “radicalisation threat.” Svetlana Powell, a teacher of almost 20 years, was fired for “gross misconduct” after she answered a student’s question about her faith. The incident took place after a disruptive student became argumentative about the tutor’s personal beliefs. Other students soon joined the conversation and began challenging Mrs Powell’s faith on various issues. The student who initially challenged the teacher then asked for her personal views on homosexuality. Mrs Powell responded by stating that she believed homosexuality was against God’s will.…
