A Christian denomination in Scotland has been blasted after their official magazine published an article describing Islam as a ‘false religion’.

According to The Times, the “hugely controversial” piece published by the Christian “sect” also went on to describe the Koran as a “lie from Satan sent into the world to deceive.”

The piece, titled ‘Islamisation of the UK: The creeping influence of a false religion’, warned about Islamisation of the West and urged Christians to “pray that the Lord would halt the Islamisation of the UK.”

“Across our society but unnoticed by many people, are changes which may seem insignificant in themselves, yet, when taken together, are truly alarming. This is true in the religious realm when we are witnessing subtle shifts towards Islam,” the article warned.

Glasgow MSP Anas Sarwar, the son of UK’s first Muslim MP, blasted the church, calling the piece “hurtful and irresponsible”.

“It demonstrates the scale of the challenge of tackling Islamophobia in Scotland,” he said.

Sarwar went on to tell The Times, this sort of Christianity has no place in society:

“There is no place in society for such hatred and prejudice. I urge the Free Church of Scotland (Continuing) to engage with the Muslim community and focus not on what divides us, but on what we have in common.”

The Christian teaching that salvation is to be found in Jesus Christ, and Jesus Christ alone, is one of the most basic, fundamental aspects of the Christian faith. For more than two thousand years the Christian church has taught that Jesus is the exclusive way to God.

This truth is based on Jesus’ own words in John 14:6 where he clearly stated: “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” As Thomas à Kempis put it, “Without the way, there is no going; without the truth, there is no knowing; without the life, there is no living.”

The reason for this is because, as Dr John MacArthur said: “There are basically only two kinds of religion in the world: those based on human achievement and those based on divine accomplishment. One says you can earn your way to heaven; the other says you must trust in Jesus Christ alone.”

To quote Dr Bruce Ware, Jesus alone qualifies as the exclusive Saviour because:

1. Christ alone was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:18-25; Luke 1:26-38).

2. Christ alone is God incarnate (John 1:1-18; Hebrews 1:1-3; Hebrews 2:14-28; Philippians 2:5-11; 1 Timothy 2:5-6).

3. Christ alone lived a sinless life (2 Corinthians 5:21; Hebrews 4:15; Hebrews 7:23-28; Hebrews 9:13-14; 1 Peter 2:21-24).

4. Christ alone died a penal substitutionary death (Isaiah 53:4-6; Romans 3:21-26; 1 Corinthians 5:21; Galatians 3:10-14).

5. Christ alone rose from the dead triumphant over sin (Acts 2:22-24; Romans 4:25; 1 Corinthians 15:3-8, 1 Corinthians 14: 15-23).

How long will it be until it is regarded as “Islamophobic” or “hateful” or even criminal to preach Christianity? For Christians in the UK, this seems like an increasing reality every day.
