Marvel to introduce transgender character in upcoming film

The President of Marvel Studios and Chief Creative Officer of Marvel has said a transgender character will be introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe ‘very soon’. During a Q&A session at the New York Film Academy, Kevin Feige was asked by a member of the audience if there were any current plans on introducing transgender characters to the franchise. “Yes! The President of Marvel Studios and Chief Creative Officer of Marvel has said a transgender character will be introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe ‘very soon’.

During a Q&A session at the New York Film Academy, Kevin Feige was asked by a member of the audience if there were any current plans on introducing transgender characters to the franchise.

“Yes! Absolutely, yes,” Feige responded. “And very soon. In a movie that we’re shooting right now, yes.”

Marvel recently celebrated transgender children on Disney Plus’ Marvel’s Hero Project. The 20-episode docuseries features young kids who’ve “dedicated their lives to selfless acts of bravery and kindness.”

An episode titled, Mighty Rebekah, focuses on a 12-year-old transgender girl named Rebekah who is “on a mission to shield LGBTQ youth from hate.”
