The President of Marvel Studios and Chief Creative Officer of Marvel has said a transgender character will be introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe ‘very soon’.

During a Q&A session at the New York Film Academy, Kevin Feige was asked by a member of the audience if there were any current plans on introducing transgender characters to the franchise.

“Yes! Absolutely, yes,” Feige responded. “And very soon. In a movie that we’re shooting right now, yes.”

Marvel recently celebrated transgender children on Disney Plus’ Marvel’s Hero Project. The 20-episode docuseries features young kids who’ve “dedicated their lives to selfless acts of bravery and kindness.”

An episode titled, Mighty Rebekah, focuses on a 12-year-old transgender girl named Rebekah who is “on a mission to shield LGBTQ youth from hate.”
