Back in 2011, Mark Steyn spoke to the Institute of Public Affairs. Steyn’s speech is now more than five years old, but perhaps more relevant today than ever. “Back in 1215, Magna Carta Libertatum couldn’t have made it plainer, real human rights are restraints that the people place upon the king. We understood that eight centuries ago. Today, we’ve entirely perverted and corrupted the principle. We’re undermining real human rights, like freedom of speech, and replacing them with ersatz rights, that rather than restraining the king, give him vastly increased state power to restrain the rights of his subjects. It’s an abomination…

Wake up and smell the hypocrisy, with This Morning hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby. Take a moment to compare the two exchanges below. In the first video, Schofield and Willoughby mock Christians for believing people can’t change their biological genders, branding their view “utterly abhorrent” and “medieval.” Schofield: “You said, ‘The issue lies with the fact that recognising gender fluidity conflicts sharply with your religious beliefs. It’s not unreasonable to call someone a girl if they are born a girl.’ And that in itself could lead you straight back into the fire because that is not the way now that we are…

Rowan Dean, Lyle Shelton, and Morgan Begg discuss same-sex marriage, Safe Schools, anti-discrimination laws and the failure of senior Liberals to protect basic freedoms. Lyle Shelton’s remarks are worth highlighting: “This is not just a matter of religious protections. Freedom of speech is not even protected under the Dean Smith bill. That is a fact. Forget about paid professional clergy, or people like me who’ve got a faith. If you’re a non-Christian or a non-Muslim and you want to express the idea that marriage is between a man and a woman, you could be taken to a tribunal. That’s just…

Steven Crowder exposes the deep seated SJW bent found in Amazon’s Alexa. Because that’s what we all want this Christmas – our own pocket sized, neon coloured, screeching SJW. Here are some of the highlights: Crowder: Ok Alexa, who is the Lord Jesus Christ? Alexa: Jesus Christ is a fictional character. Crowder: Alexa, who is the prophet Muhammad? Alexa: The prophet Muhammed is [a] very wise prophet. He taught many people how to live. He had a wife called Aisha. He lived in Saudi Arabia. The message he gave to the people was, pray to Allah, he is the only…

The sex discrimination commissioner, Elizabeth Broderick, is calling for tales of knights, princes and princesses to be swapped for stories with gender-equal messages, like women in positions of power and men in more feminine, nurturing roles. The Herald Sun reports: FAIRYTALES could be at risk in public schools from moves to degrade the much-loved stories for gender bias. Preschool books and toys could also be audited to determine whether they promote gender stereotypes, under a Victorian government plan to address family violence.

“In my view, the Christian religion is the most important and one of the first things in which all children, under a free government, ought to be instructed… No truth is more evident to my mind than that the Christian religion must be the basis of any government intended to secure the rights and privileges of a free people… When I speak of the Christian religion as the basis of government… I mean the primitive Christianity in its simplicity as taught by Christ and His apostles, consisting of a belief in the being, perfections, and government of God; in the…

John Piper, Abortion: The Innocent Blood of Our Sons and Daughters: “If we were made to watch a doctor pull off the little baby’s legs and arms one by one and place them on the table like a dentist removing cotton from your mouth—if all [people] were made to see what it really is, the pro-life goal of abortion being unthinkable (not just illegal) would be much nearer.” LiveAction recently posted a series of shocking photos depicting the victims of second trimester abortions. The children photographed were aborted at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in the early 1980s. Their bodies were…

One thing noticeably absent from recent debates in Australia is any reference to God. It’s believed that euthanasia, same sex marriage, and abortion are all issues to be settled irrespective of the Bible. The assumption is, God has not given us a moral standard, so God will not keep us accountable to a  moral standard. If we’re not the workmanship of a Creator, we’re the product of an accident – a big bang, followed by billions of years of evolution. Matters of morality therefore, are to be decided, not by divine revelation, but by debate and democracy. The problem is, once…

Today 22 of 40 MPs in the state’s upper house supported the legislation, which will make Victoria the first Australian state to legalise assisted suicide. #BREAKING: The voluntary assisted dying legislation has passed in Victoria's Upper House with 22 votes. #9News https://t.co/5YhEEm244o pic.twitter.com/mEaocLP1Rp — Nine News Melbourne (@9NewsMelb) November 22, 2017 http://caldronpool.com/euthanasia-and-the-most-vulnerable-buyers/

Student teacher, Lindsay Shepherd, was chastised by school authorities after she aired a video during two tutorials. The clip featured University of Toronto professor Jordan B. Peterson and involved a debate on gender-neutral pronouns. For context, Peterson’s full debate can be viewed here: Genders, Rights and Freedom of Speech According to a report by The Star: The excerpt from TVO’s current affairs program The Agenda shows Peterson, who has famously refused to use gender pronouns other than “he” or “she,” defending his position against a professor who argued it was necessary to use the pronouns that a person prefers to be…

It’s amazing how quickly the “YES Equality” advocates have turned into the exact opposite of what they supposedly professed. “NO Equality” is on the rise and I suspect, given their recent victory in the postal survey, campaigners will be looking for new battles to fight. In fact, we’re already beginning to witness it unfold. Just take a look at some of the material being pushed on social media. Magda Szubanski wants a marriage bill with #NoExemptions. That means, tolerance and acceptance are not enough. She demands participation, whether you like it or not. This totalitarian mentality extends beyond the Twitterverse,…

Think of the worst and most cruel act imaginable. Take a minute if you have to… Now think of a situation in which that same act might be regarded as morally good. It’s not easy. Some things aren’t justifiable. Some things are evil regardless of context. But many hesitate to admit that. We don’t want to live our lives governed by laws and standards that we can’t define ourselves. The notion that God defines morality is often ridiculed. The proposed alternative for those “enlightened” enough to do away with Christianity is: If it feels good, do it. If it hurts…

“Let me control the textbooks and I will control the state.” This quote has often been attributed to Adolf Hitler. Whether or not he said it is beside the point. As sinister as it sounds, it’s widely held that, “he alone, who owns the youth, gains the future.” Educating children is an investment. And there are many trying to invest in your children today. So, what are we allowing them to put into their textbooks? What sort of state, what sort of future, are we allowing them to create? And what are we going to do about it?   The…

“For we are Young and Free.”  What a lovely line.  I think of swimming at the beach, a cheering crowd at a concert, a happy family eating Christmas lunch. Or we might think of the freedom to live where we want, to study what we want, to work where we want, and to buy what we want. Below these delightful tip-of-the-iceberg freedoms, lie the four foundational freedoms of conscience, assembly, religion, and expression. Freedom of conscience is your freedom not to be coerced to act against your convictions about what is good and what is evil.  Mel Gibson’s 2016 movie Hacksaw Ridge, for…

Recently, there have been several attempts to change state laws regarding voluntary assisted suicide. If passed, this form of euthanasia (literally ‘good death’) would allow doctors to assist a person to end his or her life. There are good reasons apart from Scripture to oppose euthanasia: a diagnosis can be incorrect or inaccurate and a prognosis is difficult to determine. Recently, Dr. Kenneth Stevens, a professor emeritus and a former chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology at the Oregon Health & Sciences University in Portland, recalled meeting a patient in 2000 who had been diagnosed with inoperable colon cancer.…

The murder of the unborn is perhaps the greatest evil of our time. More people are killed before birth than on the battle field. R.C. Sproul said, “I believe we are in the midst of a new and more evil holocaust, which sees the destruction of 1.5 million unborn babies every year in the United States alone.” Who would have thought that the most dangerous place to be, was not in war, but in the womb. The following depicts the shocking horror of the Australian holocaust that is abortion. Robyn J. Whitaker recently argued in The Conversation and on the ABC News website “when it comes to homosexuality there are, at most, six passages of the Bible that are relevant.” Noticeably absent from Whitaker’s piece is any reference to Jesus. Perhaps if we asked her about his view, she’d respond like so many others, “he never mentioned it.” It’s a myth we bust over at The Spectator in an article titled, Jesus never said anything about homosexuality?

Well, they certainly waste no time. The campaigning is over, so let your true rainbow colours shine! Karl Stefanovic and Alex Greenwich scold Cory Bernardi for wanting to preserve freedom: Karl Stefanovic: So, you’re actually going to push ahead with that — with laws allowing wedding businesses to reject gay couples? You’re going to push ahead with that regardless of today’s result? Cory Bernardi: I’m going to make sure that freedom of speech, freedom of worship, freedom of parental rights in education are upheld. That’s what everyone’s promised us… During the campaign they told us they would defend these things. This is why this has…

“He did not know that the LORD had left him.” (Judges 16:20) This is perhaps one of the saddest verses in all of the Bible. Samson, the strongest man that ever lived, awoke to find himself surrounded by his enemies. But what was more troubling than the evil that was present, was the good that was absent. God had left Samson, and he did not realise it until it was too late. Today the results of the Same-Sex Marriage survey were released. More than 12.7 million people (79.5%) respond to the question, Should the law be changed to allow same-sex…
