Sex-Selective Abortion: 70 Million More Men Than Women in China and India After 23 Million Girls Killed

It’s ironic how abortion is often portrayed as benefiting women, and yet when the decision to abort a baby is made on the basis of sex, girls are far more likely to be killed than boys. A huge analysis of worldwide population data suggests sex-selective abortions have led to the slaughter of at least 23 million unborn girls, the majority of whom are from China and India.

According to researchers, evidence was found of an unnatural excess of males in 12 countries since the 1970s. It’s no coincidence that this imbalance coincided with the rise in availability of sex-selective abortions.

The sex-imbalance is so great that authorities in China and India are desperately trying to come to grips with the policies that have resulted in men outnumbering women by a staggering 70 million.

Last year, The Washington Post reported:

Out of China’s population of 1.4 billion, there are nearly 34 million more males than females — the equivalent of almost the entire population of California, or Poland, who will never find wives and only rarely have sex. China’s official one-child policy, in effect from 1979 to 2015, was a huge factor in creating this imbalance, as millions of couples were determined that their child should be a son.

India, a country that has a deeply held preference for sons and male heirs, has an excess of 37 million males, according to its most recent census. The number of newborn female babies compared with males has continued to plummet, even as the country grows more developed and prosperous. The imbalance creates a surplus of bachelors and exacerbates human trafficking, both for brides and, possibly, prostitution. Officials attribute this to the advent of sex-selective technology in the last 30 years, which is now banned but still in widespread practice.

In the two countries, 50 million excess males are under age 20.

Ironically we’re told, when it comes to abortion, nobody can tell a woman what she can and can’t do with her own body. Only, that’s exactly what abortion does to the unborn.

The delusion that abortion is somehow a mark of “female liberation” and “women’s rights” has resulted in the mass-extermination of millions of unborn girls at a rate that can be compared to the entire population of Australia.
