A school in Wisconsin has closed their gender-neutral bathroom after a child was allegedly sexually assaulted by an 18-year-old student.
Austin Sauers, a student at Rhineland High School, was arrested by Oneida County Police last Thursday for child enticement, fourth-degree sexual assault and exposing genitals to a child, WSAW reported.
A fourth-degree sexual assault involves non-penetrative sexual contact with a person without his or her consent, such as groping. This is a Class A misdemeanour, which can be punished by up to nine months in prison and a fine for up to $10,000.
Captain Terri Hook said the incident took place inside the school’s gender-neutral bathroom, which has since been closed by school officials.
Sauers has not yet been charged over the incident, but the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office said an investigation is still ongoing.
