Over 1,000 distinguished scientists from around the world have signed a statement casting doubt on Darwin’s theory of evolution.

Experts from institutes such as Harvard, John Hopkins, the British Museum and MIT’s Lincoln Library, signed the document titledA Scientific Dissent From Darwinism.

The statement reads: “We are skeptical of claims of the ability of random mutation and natural selection to account for the complexity of life. Careful examination of the evidence for Darwinian theory should be encouraged.”

According to the organisation behind the statement, during recent decades, new scientific evidence from a variety of scientific disciplines has caused scientists to doubt Darwin’s central theory.

Through public television programs, educational policy statements, and scientific textbooks “the public has been assured that all known evidence supports Darwinism and that virtually every scientist in the world believes the theory to be true.”

“The scientists on this list dispute the first claim and stand as living testimony in contradiction to the second,” the document’s website states.

Dr Yvonne Boldt, Ph.D. in Microbiology at the University of Minnesota said: “When Darwinian proponents claim there is no controversy regarding the cohesiveness of the scientific evidence for evolution as creator, they are merely expressing a heartfelt desire.

“There is a growing contingent of scientists who have found the evidence for Darwinian evolution wanting, and who are ready and willing to debate Darwinists on scientific grounds,” Dr Boldt added.

Dr Douglas Axe, director of the Biologic Institute and Maxwell Visiting Professor of Molecular Biology at Biola University said: “Because no scientist can show how Darwin’s mechanism can produce the complexity of life, every scientist should be skeptical. The fact that most won’t admit to this exposes the unhealthy effect of peer pressure on scientific discourse.”

David Barlinski, senior fellow of the Discovery Institute’s Center for Science and Culture, called Darwin’s theory of evolution, “the great white elephant of contemporary thought. It is large, almost completely useless, and the object of superstitious awe.”
