Agnostic Historian Says, ‘I Changed My Mind About Christianity’

“In my morals and ethics, I have learned to accept that I am not Greek or Roman at all, but thoroughly and profoundly Christian.”

There are no atheists.

Have you ever etched something into the trunk of a tree? I wonder about the people who come along at a later date and attempt to decipher our primitive code language for who hearts who. Suppose you stumbled across a tree etching, a simple straight line for example. Now, you might conclude that it was an unintentional mark, a random scratching from an animal’s claw perhaps. Now suppose that line was followed by a love heart. The likelihood of that etching being the result of a random wild creature decreases drastically. There is an obvious level of intentionality behind that…

Banned from Facebook for sarcastically suggesting, ‘Men are pigs’ in response to a video suggesting men are pigs…

Our Facebook Overlords are scraping the bottom of the barrel to silence conservative voices and this is yet another absolutely ridiculous example. Yesterday Victoria Against Violence posted a video to their Facebook page titled, Respect Women: Call It Out (Public Transport). The video shows a fairly well-groomed man looking over at a woman and smiling while travelling on a bus. When another commuter notices, he stands between the man and the woman, breaking the line of sight. The man looks away as the words, “Respect Women; Call it Out” appear on the screen. After being tagged in the post by a…

Rod Bower on Q&A: At odds with God and science

During his recent appearance on Q&A, Rob Bower of Gosford Anglican Church was asked how he reconciled his stance on same-sex marriage with the biblical view of homosexuality. The question was put to Bower by an audience member who referred to 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 in particular. The verse reads: “Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, 10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.” …

The lie of euthanasia is that in some instances suicide is the best option

Euthanasia: the practice of intentionally ending a life to relieve pain and suffering. The word literally means “good death.” It’s considered good to many because assisted suicide is viewed as a solution and a legitimate means of ending suffering and escaping what feels inescapable. But is this a helpful or even moral portrayal of suicide? People don’t usually choose to end their life while in a right state of mind. They only ever reach that point because they believed the lie of “good death.” The lie of “euthanasia” is that in some instances, suicide is the best option, or even…

Fr Rod Bower and Gosford Anglican Church says: ‘Dutton is a Sodomite’

Fr Rod Bower, the “priest” at Gosford Anglican Church has changed his church sign to read, “Dutton is a Sodomite.” In a post on Facebook, Fr Bower explains, “the sin of Sodom is greatly misunderstood by those who usually choose to do so, it has nothing to do with homosexuality, it is all about hospitality, or more to the point lack there of, and particularly about the condition of the heart that leads to inhospitable behaviour.” Is Fr Bower correct? The story of Sodom and Gomorrah’s destruction begins in Genesis 18, when Abraham is met by the LORD and two…

Save Australia Day: “Not all aboriginal people feel like victims”

Five local counsels have decided against marking 26 January as Australia Day following debate about whether the day should be moved to a less controversial date. In response, Mark Latham and Jacintha Price have together launched the Save Australia Day campaign which will be run on radio and television. Latham has argued that 26 January has always been a vital date in Australian history:   Ill-informed Leftists are spreading the furphy that Australia Day on 26 January is a recent invention. In fact, the early settlers celebrated each 26 January anniversary and in 1818 (the 30 year anniversary) Governor Macquarie…

A Nation Guided by the Moral Fashion of the Day

If good and bad are ultimately defined by culture, then the moral relativist must grant that there is always a circumstance in which every act, even the most heinous, can be justified.

Maybe God isn’t such a killjoy after all

D. James Kennedy: “A few years ago the former Surgeon General of the United States, David Satcher, reported that some twelve million Americans are infected by sexually transmitted diseases each year. Worldwide there are more than one hundred million cases of gonorrhea alone. In addition, there are cases of syphilis, chlamydia, herpes (millions of people have that), as well as the dreaded AIDS and twenty-one other horrible sexually transmitted diseases. So maybe God isn’t such a killjoy after all by forbidding sex outside of marriage. And maybe every good gift and every perfect gift does come down from above, and…

It’s now ok for a man to hit a woman

In 2014, Fallon Fox, a transgender MMA fighter, beat his female opponent, Tamika Brents, so severely, that she suffered a broken skull and concussion before being TKO’d. The fight lasted one round and was over in almost two and a half minutes. It’s not easy viewing, but the entire fight, including the bloody end, can be viewed below: In an interview following the fight, Brents said: I’ve fought a lot of women and have never felt the strength that I felt in a fight as I did that night. I can’t answer whether it’s because she was born a…

This Morning: Wake up and smell the hypocrisy

Wake up and smell the hypocrisy, with This Morning hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby. Take a moment to compare the two exchanges below. In the first video, Schofield and Willoughby mock Christians for believing people can’t change their biological genders, branding their view “utterly abhorrent” and “medieval.” Schofield: “You said, ‘The issue lies with the fact that recognising gender fluidity conflicts sharply with your religious beliefs. It’s not unreasonable to call someone a girl if they are born a girl.’ And that in itself could lead you straight back into the fire because that is not the way now that we are…

If you forfeit the Bible, you forfeit debate

One thing noticeably absent from recent debates in Australia is any reference to God. It’s believed that euthanasia, same sex marriage, and abortion are all issues to be settled irrespective of the Bible. The assumption is, God has not given us a moral standard, so God will not keep us accountable to a  moral standard. If we’re not the workmanship of a Creator, we’re the product of an accident – a big bang, followed by billions of years of evolution. Matters of morality therefore, are to be decided, not by divine revelation, but by debate and democracy. The problem is, once…

What was the Sin of Sodom?

In the article titled, To Christians arguing ‘no’ on marriage equality: the Bible is not decisive, Robyn J. Whitaker suggests the story of Sodom and Gomorrah, as recorded in Genesis 19, has “nothing to say about homosexuality.” The destruction of the two cities is rather attributed to “sexual violence and rape.” But is Whitaker’s analysis correct? The story of Sodom and Gomorrah’s destruction begins in Genesis 18, when Abraham is met by the LORD and two angels. After the LORD told Abraham, “the outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is great and their sin is very grave” (v.20), the two angels departed in the direction…

No one should want to separate church from state

Think of the worst and most cruel act imaginable. Take a minute if you have to… Now think of a situation in which that same act might be regarded as morally good. It’s not easy. Some things aren’t justifiable. Some things are evil regardless of context. But many hesitate to admit that. We don’t want to live our lives governed by laws and standards that we can’t define ourselves. The notion that God defines morality is often ridiculed. The proposed alternative for those “enlightened” enough to do away with Christianity is: If it feels good, do it. If it hurts…

A Nation Abandoned by God

“He did not know that the LORD had left him.” (Judges 16:20) This is perhaps one of the saddest verses in all of the Bible. Samson, the strongest man that ever lived, awoke to find himself surrounded by his enemies. But what was more troubling than the evil that was present, was the good that was absent. God had left Samson, and he did not realise it until it was too late. Today the results of the Same-Sex Marriage survey were released. More than 12.7 million people (79.5%) respond to the question, Should the law be changed to allow same-sex…

More than 100 Queensland candidates pledge support to child murder

Things are looking gloomy in the Sunshine State. Up to 148 Queensland election candidates have signed up to Fair Agenda’s pro-abortion candidate pledge. The independent group is pressuring candidates to vow, if elected, they will, “vote to remove abortion from the criminal code, and support laws to ensure all Queenslanders can safely and legally access full reproductive healthcare, without being harassed or intimidated.” The pledge has also gained backing from The Human Rights Law Centre, Women’s Legal Service Queensland, White Ribbon, and Queensland Council of Unions. Candidates who have signed up commit to supporting three reforms in particular: Treat abortion like other medical procedures,…

The “largest gathering of its kind” cancelled due to poor ticket sales

Should we laugh? It’s hard not to. The 2018 Global Atheist Convention has been cancelled. The event, set to take place from 9-11 February 2018, in Melbourne Australia, was described by organisers as, “the largest gathering of its kind in the southern hemisphere.” However, a lack of interest has forced the organizers to pull the plug early. In a letter posted on Facebook, the Committee explains: Ticket sales were well below expectation and the numbers sold for previous Conventions and it was simply not financially viable for the event to proceed. Ironically, the event was titled, Reason to Hope. Given the fact that an atheistic…

When is it okay to kill this baby?

Last year, Ben Shapiro tweeted an image detailing the process of fetal development. Attached to the image was the question, “When is it okay to kill this baby?” Fetal Development Day 1: Fertilization: all human chromosomes are present; unique human life begins. Day 6: Embryo begins implantation in the uterus. Day 22: Heart begins to beat with the child’s own blood, often a different type than the mother’s. Week 3: By the end of third week the child’s backbone spinal column and nervous system are forming. The liver, kidneys and intestines begin to take shape. Week 4: By the end…

The argument for abortion is exactly the same as the argument for slavery

“It’s truly amazing how history repeats itself. The argument in favor of abortion is exactly the same as the argument in favor of slavery. ‘You’re on my land? Then I get to decide whether you’re a person or property.’ Then you have women who say, ‘It’s in my womb, I get to decide whether this is a child or not.’ Well it turns out in human history there is a long, inglorious chain of people who said, ‘I get to decide whether this is a person or not’ and it never ended with anything but mass death.” Ben Shapiro
