A bus driver in the UK has been suspended after he refused to drive a bus that promotes LGBTQ Pride. Rebecca Sears, a passenger on the bus, claimed the driver said he was swapping buses with another driver because “this bus promotes homosexuality and I refuse to drive it.” Ms Sears reported the driver’s remarks to management at Konectbus, a Norfolk bus service that’s run by Go East Anglia, who then immediately suspended the driver. In a post on Twitter, Ms Sears said: Today I was waiting for the 501 bus to Thickthorn and we were told by the driver…

The Treasurer of New South Wales delivered a powerful speech last week in response to the Reproductive Healthcare Reform Bill 2019. The bill, which passed the lower house 59 to 31, would essentially throw open the doors to late-term abortion, on-demand, by any method, no matter how abhorrent, up to 22 weeks, as Dr David Van Gend pointed out. Beyond that point, right up until birth, all that is required is the consent of two abortion doctors. In his speech, Dominic Perrottet MP pointed out that the worst parts of our history have come from a refusal to recognise the…

Cricket Australia on Thursday announced a new policy that would allow transgender athletes to participate in the competition that aligns with their gender identity. The Elite Cricket Policy and Guidelines, which will ensure transgender and gender-diverse cricketers can play the game at the highest level in Australia, will allow biological males who identify as females to compete in women’s only competitions. Kevin Roberts, CEO of Cricket Australia, said there is no place in sport for discrimination of any kind. “It doesn’t make any sense that today, people are discriminated against, harassed or excluded, because of who they are. And that’s…

Below is a copy of my recent letter to my local member of Parliament, the Hon. Melinda Pavey, M.P, asking her to consider voting against the abortion bill, which is currently before the N.S.W parliament. This is an important issue and due to the rushed nature of the bill, it’s imperative that we give an immediate response in writing. If you’d like to reuse the main body of the letter below, first, copy and paste the text into an email. Next, address your own local M.P and sign off under your own name and town in the space provided. Finding…

Incredible scenes from the left side of Australian politics. Shadow Home Affairs Minister Kristina Keneally spoke in the Senate on Tuesday night to illustrate why British born political commentator & former Breitbart editor Raheem Kassam shouldn’t be allowed to enter the country to speak at CPAC (Australia’s Conservative Political Action Conference.) Keneally spoke bluntly: We should not allow a career bigot — a person who spreads hate speech about Muslims, about women and about gay and lesbian people — to enter our country with the express intent of undermining equity and equality. Keneally’s calls come amidst a wash of Australian…

A seemingly sacrosanct truth within prosperous western democracies is the need for a state-based antidote to corporate greed and avarice. Otherwise, we are unable to provide for those left behind by the machinations of supply and demand economics. It is argued that when left unchecked, markets become oligarchic or monopolistic, leaving the consumer and citizen with no power and unaffordable prices. It is the role of the government to thus ensure that these market failures, which in mainstream media take on a Machiavellian complexion, are resisted and expelled through legislation and bureaucracy. The problem does not dissipate however when the…

What’s on the agenda for ‘social progressives’ after the redefinition of marriage? The decriminalisation of abortion. At least, that’s what Alex Greenwich MP—former Co-chair of Australian Marriage Equality—is now focused on. And quickly. With Parliament resuming this week, Greenwich is tabling a bill to decriminalize abortion in NSW, and to require doctors with conscientious objections to refer patients to those who will perform the grisly procedure. The Bill has the support of the Health Minister, Brad Hazzard and, Caldron Pool understands, Premier Gladys Berejiklian. However, of even greater concern than the issue itself is that the Bill will not follow…

An elderly Christian street preacher who was arrested by UK police for ‘disturbing the peace’ with his “Islamophobic” Christian message has been awarded £2,500 for wrongful arrest. Oluwole Ilesanmi was preaching outside Southgate tube station in London in February when two Metropolitan Police officers ordered him to stop preaching. When the 64-year-old refused, the officers arrested the elderly preacher, ripping his Bible from his hands, then cuffing his wrists behind his back. Mr Ilesanmi was accused of “Islamophobia” after he called Islam an ‘aberration’. The arresting officers told the elderly preacher, “Nobody wants to listen to that.” When Mr Ilesanmi…

World swimming body FINA has levered podium protests at its Gwangju world championships as an opportunity to ban religious expression by competitors at all future FINA events. The new Code of Conduct provision entitled “rules of conduct during the competition” was enacted after an alleged drug cheat was snubbed at two official FINA medal ceremonies. The two new clauses, which could breach international human rights (ICCPR Article 18), effectively ban religious statements or behaviour “during competition” and appear to apply to all modes of communication, including social media. The new code of conduct, according to News.com.au, reads: “The competitors shall…

The Victorian Government has reintroduced a bill to Parliament which would make it easier for transgender adults and children to change the gender on their birth certificate to any gender descriptor of their choosing. Individuals wishing to change their gender can do so through a statutory declaration simply stating that they believe they are the sex they have nominated. If the person wishing to change their gender does not identify as either male or female, an option will be provided for the individual to mark “X”. “Equality is not negotiable,” Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews said. “And we are well known,…

A scientifically accurate, pro-life billboard in New South Wales will be immediately removed after members of the community voiced outrage. The billboard was created by pro-life group Emily’s Voice, and depicts a pregnant woman along with the words: “A heart beats at four weeks.” Despite the fact that the claim is entirely accurate, Transport Minister Andrew Constance called the adverts “appalling,” after pulling the same graphic from buses last month. According to Nine News, a spokesperson for the billboard company said the ad was reviewed and not found to breach any of its advertising codes, however, following the backlash the…

An article recently published by The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age makes the claim that Israel Folau’s “controversial” Instagram post was a “misquote of the Bible.” The piece attempts to prove this point by suggesting Folau’s post was a citation of Galatians 5:19-21, a passage which makes no mention of “homosexuality” or even “hell” for that matter. “Note however, that Galatians 5:19-21 does not, in any translation, mention homosexuals,” the author said. “Folau and whoever wrote the original post have projected homosexuality into the promiscuous category. That is their bias.” “You will notice that there is nothing in the…

Rev. Franklin Graham has warned the Equality Act will have “catastrophic consequences” for both religious freedom and women’s rights if it becomes law. According to Life Site News: “The Equality Act would amend the 1964 Civil Rights Act to include ‘sex,’ ‘sexual orientation,’ and ‘gender identity’ among expressly recognized ‘non-discrimination’ categories in ‘public accommodations’ (the definition of which would be dramatically expanded); and force employers of 15 or more people to recognize their claimed ‘gender identity,’ forbid them from ‘discriminating’ based on ‘sexual orientation’ or ‘gender identity,’ and mandate transgender ‘access’ to sex-specific facilities.” In the latest issue of the Billy…

It’s every writer’s worst nightmare. You spend countless hours researching, writing and promoting your latest book—claiming to have discovered something all of the professional scholars have strangely missed—when it’s revealed that your interpretation is clearly flawed. But that’s precisely what has happened to Naomi Wolf, and it’s not the first time it’s happened either. Back in 1992 Wolf published the feminist classic, The Beauty Myth, (New York: Doubleday) in which she argued that 150,000 women die of anorexia in America every year. What’s more, Wolf compared this to the Holocaust stating: When confronted with a vast number of emaciated bodies…

To criticise and insult people is a somewhat precarious activity. In fact, for one sinner to have the temerity to criticise another seems particularly galling, and liable to do more harm than good. Therefore, it is not altogether surprising that one should hear praise, especially at funerals, that a certain person ‘never said a bad word about anyone’. It reflects a sentiment which is not without truth, but there is also truth in Richard Baxter’s barbed comment, cited by J. C. Ryle in discussing the parable of the talents (Matt.25:14-30),  ‘To do no harm is the praise of a stone,…

Often we hear like-for-like comparisons made between church leaders and the Pharisees. People might say something such as, ‘Jesus reserved his harshest criticisms for the religious leaders.’ A famous passage where Jesus seemingly does this is Matthew 23:2-4, 17, 27, 33, where he refers to the Pharisees as lazy, hypocritical, whitewashed tombs, snakes vipers, and children of hell. I could give a rundown of the modern-day equivalents of these insults, but I want to keep my job as a pastor. Suffice to say, Jesus hammered the Pharisees with enough invective that we can fairly accurately declare that he didn’t like…

A Christian doctor who was fired by the UK government after he refused to identify his patients by anything other than their biological gender, is suing his former employer for discrimination. Dr David Mackereth worked for 26-years as an NHS doctor before he was sacked from his position as a Department for Work and Pensions disability assessor. The 55-year-old was deemed “unfit to work” after he refused to identify his patients by their preferred gender pronoun. The father-of-four said it would be dishonest for him to act contrary to his beliefs and warned of the dangers in not allowing doctors…

Two years after marriage was redefined in the U.K., Felix Ngole found himself in a discussion on Facebook. The topic was same-sex marriage, and during the discourse, the-father-of-four put forward the Christian position on the matter. At the time, Ngole was a postgraduate student, enrolled in a social work course at Sheffield University. Two months after posting his comment, Ngole received a letter from the university informing him that he was under investigation. He was eventually summoned to a disciplinary hearing where he was told that he had breached social work guidelines regarding “personal conduct” and “brought the profession into…

When Israel Folau is asked to swear on the Bible before he gives evidence in the High Court, will someone from the legal team of Rugby Australia object that it is an example of ‘hate speech’? That’s a serious question now because as Miranda Devine reported in The Sunday Telegraph, even if Folau had simply “photocopied the passages that referred to in the posts… that would have caused a problem.” What follows is a copy—supplied by Devine—of the transcript from Folau’s code of conduct meeting in May: Q. What about when the Bible requires him to tell the good and…
