The world needs to remember the Christian faith and remarkable courage of Dr Li Wen Liang, who worked at Wuhan Central Hospital and was one of the chief whistleblowers regarding COVID-19. Dr Wen Liang himself died of the virus. He was only thirty-four. Australia’s Sixty Minutes provides a concise summary in the pivotal role that Dr Wen Liang played in uncovering the scandal, as well as how the Communist Chinese Government is now trying to “re-write history and [falsely] claim that it was transparent all along”: But another aspect to Dr. Li Wen Liang that should not be overlooked is…

Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best said in a COVID-19 update on Monday that Washington State is no place for hate. In the one-minute video, which was shared on the department’s social media accounts, Best said: “We will document and investigate every reported hate crime, even racist name-calling should be reported to police. We take this information very seriously. “If you aren’t sure if a hate crime occurred call 911. We are here to help…

Has Capitalism Caused COVID-19? Apparently, the current coronavirus pandemic is not linked to the exotic eating habits of the Chinese but instead is due to “the climate change crisis”. Vijay Kolinjivadi, from Al Jazeera, argues that the common roots of COVID-19 and climate change are evidenced in two ways: The origin of the virus makes it a perfect example of how the way capitalism commodifies life to turn it into profit can directly endanger human life. In this sense, the ongoing pandemic is the product of unrestrained capitalist production and consumption patterns and is very much part of the deleterious environmental changes…

COVID-19 is spreading across the globe, and no nation is immune to its economic symptoms. Governments have taken on various approaches to the illness, displaying no unified international plan of action, and that’s a good thing! Countries need to craft the solution that fits their unique profile, and Australia is no exception to this rule. Before I go any further, in the interest of full disclosure, I’ll say that the economic plan I’m about to endorse is one crafted by the Australian Taxpayers’ Alliance, of which I am the Communications Director. Do with that information what you wish, but what…

The New South Wales government has made it illegal for anyone to leave their house without an excuse that state politicians deem “reasonable.” According to the Public Health (COVID-19 Restrictions on Gathering and Movement) Order 2020, any person who is found in breach of the new public health order could spend up to six months in prison and/or be hit with an $11,000 fine, plus a further $5,500 fine for every day the offence continues. Corporations who don’t comply with the new emergency ministerial directives can also face a $55,000 upfront fine followed by a $27,500 fine per day for…

Houston’s Democratic mayor has asked crooks and criminals to not commit any crimes until the coronavirus is over. Mayor Sylvester Turner made the request on Monday during a media briefing on the city’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. “Until the coronavirus is resolved, criminals take a break,” Turner said. “Stay home. Ok? Stay home. And don’t commit any crimes and that way they’ll stay safe and out of jail and police officers will stay safe and can go home to their families. Ok? “So, everybody chill,” he added. “Crooks, criminals, you chill. Wait until the coronavirus is over.” WATCH:

CBN News has been caught using footage from an overcrowded Italian hospital during a report on the COVID-19 outbreak in New York City. According to the Daily Caller, the news outlet said, “an editing mistake” led to the network airing the misleading footage which was originally part of a March 22 Sky News report from Italy. A spokesperson for CBN News said the network has taken immediate steps to remove the footage from all platforms and shows. The outlet has been criticised on social media for spreading misinformation at a time of public panic. WATCH: During a Pandemic it is…

The coronavirus pandemic reached Australia in January 2020. After three months of the epidemic in the country, the death toll has just risen to 18 after another elderly person, aged in her 80s, acquired the virus overseas a couple of weeks ago and died during the weekend at a Canberra Hospital. In Victoria, three people in their 70s died in March after being diagnosed with Covid-19. The death of a fourth man, in his 80s, was reported on 29 March. In the ACT a woman in her 80s became the territory’s first fatality on 30 March. In Tasmania, the first death has just…

The New York City Mayor has warned, churches and synagogues that continue to conduct worship services during the COVID-19 pandemic could be permanently closed down. During his Friday news briefing, Mayor Bill de Blasio said, law enforcement will be sent to shut down any worship services held over the weekend in violation of the ban on gatherings. If the congregation fails to comply, additional action will be taken, including fines and potential permanent closure of the building. “I want to say to all those who are preparing for the potential of religious services this weekend: If you go to your…

The health situation in Italy is dire. Tragically, over 8,000 people have died and around 80,000 people have caught COVID-19 giving it the second highest number of cases outside of China. The question is, what caused this to be the case? Back in February, Dr Jing Zeng wrote in The Guardian that there was no link whatsoever between COVID-19 and The People’s Republic of China. And those who dared to suggest that there was were guilty of #CoronaRacism. As such, many in the mainstream media have followed the explanation of Matt Simon in Wired, who argued that there was no…

There’s a thin line between governments waging a war against a crisis, and governments waging a war against people caught up in that crisis. It’s the crossing of this line; the potential, and perhaps eventual, overreaction through disproportionate measures, that have sparked an increasing number of centrist and conservative thinkers to question these heavy-handed measures, along with anything, and everything, labelled “the new normal”. The more we learn about the coronavirus, the more important it is to question whether the heavy-handed measures being taken against the coronavirus are proportionate to the fight against it. Peter Hitchens was the first to…

New York City Department of Health issued graphic guidelines on Saturday on how to ‘enjoy sex’ without spreading COVID-19. The department’s first suggestion to stop the spread of the virus was to have sex with yourself rather than with another person. “You are your safest sex partner,” the document said. “Masturbation will not spread COVID-19, especially if you wash your hands (and any sex toys) with soap and water for at least 20 seconds before and after sex.” The guide also recommended people avoid having sex with anyone outside of your household and to have a few sexual partners as…

The LNP’s battle against the Coronavirus is also a battle for the hearts and minds of Australians. If the Prime Minister fails in winning the latter, his ability to fight and win the former will be significantly compromised. It’s evident to most that Scott Morrison is doing everything a good leader can to win this war, but as goes the law of unintended consequences, Morrison is on the cusp of losing the battle for Australia’s hearts and minds, because of the absence of reassuring battle cries. There’s no doubt that Sunday’s late press conference revealed a Prime Minister working hard…

Through the past two weeks, Christians throughout the West have had to wrestle with the problem of how to conduct the Lord’s Day Service—whether it should be held, or whether it should be postponed, or whether it ought to be even relocated online. Considering the rising rate at which the Coronavirus, also referred to as COVID-19, is being spread, Christians must, rightly, ask as to how they can apply best practice in dealing with the virus, and how to avoid the local church being a den of malaise. Should the church shutter its doors like certain businesses, sports, and other…

There seems to be no end to the hatred against the US President. Just recently his administration was accused by journalists of dismissively referring to the Coronavirus as ‘Kung flu’. The Washington Times recorded the following exchange: PBS Newshour reporter Yamiche Alcindor told Mr Trump that “at least one White House official” had used the term, and asked him if it was wrong. “I wonder who said that,” the president replied evenly. “Do you know who said that?” “I’m not sure the person’s name,” Ms Alcindor answered. “Say the term again,” Mr Trump demanded. “A person at the White House…

So I penned some quick thoughts today for an old friend concerned about the state of things in Australia. I’ll post it here as I have on social media because it might help put some things into perspective for you the same way it has for us. Remember Italy has the highest older population in Europe. It also didn’t close down its borders until late in the game. Whereas Australia followed the U.S and banned travel pretty much right of the bat – smart decision. Australia is also an island continent, meaning the cases we have here, shouldn’t increase much…

We are living in a different world to the one we were in a week ago. In December 2019, a pneumonia outbreak was detected in the city of Wuhan, China. It was soon traced to a new strain of coronavirus—but not before infected travellers had crossed international borders in every direction. A few months on and the virus has spread to over 160 countries and resulted in over 7,000 deaths. While something like 98% of people who contract COVID-19 recover, the elderly and those with chronic health problems are most at risk. Governments the world over are deeply concerned that…

When future generations ask, who started the war? Remember that the seeds for the current war of words between the Chinese Communist Party and the United States were sown in February, when, Cui Tiankai, the Chinese Communist Party ambassador to the United States, claimed that anyone calling the COVID-19 outbreak by virtue of its origin, such as the Wuhan Virus, would be inciting racial discrimination and xenophobia. The World Health Organization, and the United Nations, along with the usual list of names from the perpetually angry Leftist Twitter echelon, backed the Communist narrative, declaring that use of the term “Wuhan…

In the midst of a “near-global pandemic,” the World Health Organisation (WHO) has warned negative words which fuel stigmatization and perpetuate stereotypes are more dangerous than the Coronavirus itself. As the global death toll surges past 3,000, WHO on Tuesday published a series of tweets, lecturing their 5.6 million Twitter followers about the “do’s and don’ts” when speaking of the virus. “When talking about COVID19 (Coronavirus), certain words and language may have a negative meaning for people and fuel stigmatizing attitudes,” WHO tweeted. “These words and language can perpetuate negative stereotypes or assumptions, strengthen false association between COVID19 and other…
