John Anderson, former Deputy Prime Minister of Australia, has said freedom of association is up there with free speech in terms of things we must defend. Speaking at the Church And State Summit 2018, Mr Anderson said:
“It’s an incredibly important right in a free society. In a free society people need to be able to organise. They should have the right to belong to a sporting club. They should have the right to belong to a political party.”
