A father in Coweta County, Georgia has been arrested for aggravated assault after finding a man in his 14-year-old daughter’s bedroom.
According to Fox 5 Atlanta, Ismael Casilla severely beat Keywontrezes Humphries when he found him in his young daughter’s bedroom early morning on July 4. But investigators say it’s what happened next that led them to charge the understandably outraged father.
When the 20-year-old fled through an open window, Casilla grabbed his gun and continued to beat the man in the front yard, before firing shots through the neighbourhood as the man ran away.
Officers said they sympathized with the father’s actions, however, Georgia law prevents people from continuing actions against an intruder once they are no longer a threat.
Additionally, investigators said Casillas would not have been arrested if he did not grab his gun and start shooting at Humphries.
Humphries was also arrested and charged with child molestation. Officials said the man was in a relationship with the child.
