“The last time I looked, a government that takes away individuals’ liberty to choose how they want to live work, and raise families, was called a communist dictatorship. A political system that my family and I escaped from, and many other refugees escaped from, especially the Vietnamese Australian community.”

Under current defamation law, social media users can be held legally responsible for third-party content on any post they make. The guiding rule seems to be: You posted it. You incited it. Ergo, you’re responsible for it. In other words, anything someone posts on my timeline or writes in the comments section, that is deemed offensive, defamatory or “hate speech” could end in a lawsuit. For those who only have a private Facebook account, there is currently no mechanic to prevent this from happening. The only real preventative measure is to keep an eye on comments or keep your friends…

I used to think that the only thing wrong with political correctness was the excesses that went along with it. Take the good, reject the bad. However, the more I learn from those who practice and enforce the ideals of political correctness, the more I arrive at the conclusion that political correctness is the secular version of…

It has been the majority view (and biblical view) in Church History that the role of Pastor / Elder is reserved for men only. This isn’t because women are considered inferior to men, but rather the focus is on different God given roles (despite what today’s culture may say men and women are different, yet equal). Recently, Founders Ministries, which is a conservative Baptist organisation, posted a theological article entitled, “Only Men May be Pastors,” on their website and social media platforms. This article, which was written by Pastor Tom Hicks, sets for a very strong biblical case for the…

In the debate about whether we create or discover a writing voice, it doesn’t matter which side of the camp you land on. It’s generally agreed that a writing voice takes time to develop. When I started a blog in 2013, I had no real idea how it would develop. My plan was to use the blog as a way of networking, and as a way of improving my own writing skills. In my post-graduate world, I wasn’t sure a blog would achieve either. Looking back, I can see areas where I’ve succeeded, and I can also see areas where…

Rachel and Laurel filed a formal complaint with the state labor bureau, which found the bakery had violated…
