Labor’s Chris Bowen told voters, “If you don’t like our policies, don’t vote for us.” It was an applaudable moment of conviction and commitment I’d like to see more often in political contests. Tell the electorate who you are, what you believe in, what you honestly think is worth fighting for, and then let us choose. I asked my Uber driver yesterday if he was happy with the outcomes of the federal election, without telling him anything about me or my views. He offered that he was normally a Labor voter, but was greatly disillusioned by the way they’d “become…

A former rugby league player has suggested that Christians, like Israel Folau, who express a biblical view of sexuality “can and do” push kids to commit suicide. Ian Roberts, an openly gay former rugby league player, appeared as a guest panelist on Channel Nine’s Sports Sunday, where he condemned Folau for posting a paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 6:9 on his personal Instagram account. “I do feel sorry for Israel, but there are consequences for your actions and reactions, you know,” Roberts said. “And I don’t say this lightly, what I’m about to say, the language I use is hard and it’s for…

Two years ago, Cambridge barrister Paul Dimond offered a blunt, near-prophetic warning that Christians will be targeted if marriage laws were to change in Australia. “It’s perfectly possible to create a society of same-sex rights and privacy rights for homosexuals and freedom of religion rights for Christians,” Diamond said. “In fact, that would be a truly diverse and free society. That is not the experience in the United Kingdom. “You do lose your job, you will suffer educational detriment, you will be vilified, for doing no more than reading a Bible verse expressing traditional views. And it’s so abusive in…

What do Islam and the ideological left have in common? The former reviles homosexuality, secularism and amorality. The latter embraces these whilst shunning theocracy and self-determination. It’s an unusual marriage, but one of convenience. Islam needs an enabler to raise its profile in the sympathetic West through the peaceful promotion of its less controversial side, and the left craves for power, hoping the odd marriage with Islam will bolster their voting base. The Christchurch massacre has been an opportunity for both Islam and the left to exploit the moral superiority they both claim over anyone with conservative values. The outrage…

As Western society becomes more bullying in its attitude towards Christians, there has been an increasing tendency on the part of many believers to be content with arguing for our space in the public square. There has been a reluctance to call on unbelievers to repent, and even an assumption that unbelievers cannot be expected to hold the same moral views as Christians. It is true that without the Holy Spirit, the Christian message will simply seem to be foolishness to those who hear it (1 Cor.2:14). However, God has written His moral law on the hearts of all human…

In May 2013 Dr Kermit Gosnell from Pennsylvania was found guilty of three counts of first degree murder of three children intended for abortion but born alive and then murdered, and one count of involuntary manslaughter for failing to properly look after a woman who had gone through an abortion. Even some hardened pro-abortion people admitted that the whole business was grisly in the extreme. Apparently one of the aborted children was so big that Gosnell quipped that he could ‘walk me to the bus stop’. Photos were shown to the jury which depicted babies with wounds in the back…

My interest in Gene Edward Veith Jnr’s work began in 2012 after reading ‘Modern Fascism’ (1993). In it Veith shows himself to be a fearless, sharp, forward-thinking academic who isn’t afraid to stick his neck out when presenting sensitive facts. For a scholar, this isn’t just risky, it often means standing alone, on uncomfortable truths, that have either been conveniently buried or ignored. Taking a stand can end in ostracism or excommunication. One potent example is Veith’s thunderous proclamation that ‘fascism is back in academia’. This rides on the coattails of a discussion about the defence (and for some, the denial)…

Daniel Andrews, the Premier of Victoria, has announced ‘conversion therapy’ will be against the law in the state of Victoria. In a post on Facebook, Andrews announced: “Gay, bi and trans people don’t need to be ‘cured’ – because there’s absolutely nothing wrong with them. And if you think otherwise, maybe there’s something wrong with you. “‘Conversion therapy’ destroys lives,” he went on to say. “It creates shame and stigma. And soon, it will be against the law in Victoria. This is an Australian first. And it’s the right thing to do. Because bigoted quackery has no place in this…

In 2010 Steve Tourloukis, a Canadian father of two, requested prior notification when his children, aged four and six, were to be taught about homosexuality, LGBTIQ issues and abortion in the classroom. The school denied Toutloukis’ request suggesting it was mandatory that his children be educated, or reeducated, on these issues. What followed was a seven year battle with the public school board, the Elementary Teacher’s Union, and lesbian, Premier Kathleen Wynne’s Liberal government. According to Life Site News, “Tourloukis made it clear in his 2012 legal challenge he did not object to his children being taught facts, or to…

As Western societies lurch from one disastrous fad to another, there have been increased efforts to ban what are called gay conversion therapies. Hollywood has naturally offered its obligatory contribution with the movie Boy Erased, Academia chipped in with a report from La Trobe University – the institution that birthed the Safe Schools Coalition – which joined with the Human Rights Law Centre and Gay & Lesbian Health Victoria to produce research to show that ‘LGBT conversion therapy remains a real problem in Australian religious communities.’ The Victorian government over 2016-2017 banned such therapy, and the Conservative government in the…

Two years after marriage was redefined in Massachusetts, David Parker’s son brought home a book from his kindergarten classroom. The book was designed to celebrate and normalize homosexuality and same-sex marriages. The following year, Rob and Robin Wirthlin had a similar experience when their seven year old son, and his class, were read a book about the marriage of two homosexual characters. The parents requested prior notification and the opportunity to opt out when the subject of sexuality was being discussed. Their request was rejected. Soon after Parker met with the school principal and the curriculum director to discuss the…

Drawing on the work of two American writers, Jonathan Haidt and Greg Lukianoff, Paul Kelly wrote recently of ‘the three great lies corroding Western cultures’. In his view, these are: first, that disputes today are a battle between good (defined as the oppressed victims) and evil (defined as the privileged minority); secondly, that people will be made weaker by being challenged so they need to be protected and made safe; and thirdly, that we must always trust our feelings. All that is undeniable, but associated with these great lies is the confusion in our view of the law. In the…

Equality Campaign co-chair and fake theologian Alex Greenwich has accused Christians of misrepresenting the Bible. In an interview on Sky News, the independent New South Wales MP suggested the biblical command to ‘love thy neighbour’ means Christians ought to abandon sexuality defined by Scripture to embrace LGBTQ+ sexuality. “The church ethos, or the ethos of Christianity is to love thy neighbour,” Greenwich said. “There is no where in the Bible, or in church teachings that says you should target gay kids and teachers. There’s no where in a religious ethos that says you should legalise bullying against the LGBTI community.…

In 1944, C.S Lewis wrote: “The demand for equality has two sources; First, the noble: the desire for fair play. Second, the mean-spirited: the hatred of superiority. If you seek to appease envy: 1. you will not succeed. Envy is insatiable. 2. you are trying to introduce equality where equality is fatal. “Political democracy is doomed if it tries to extend its demand for equality into the higher spheres of beauty, virtue and truth. Neither of which are democratic. Ethical, intellectual or aesthetic democracy is death.” Lewis’ position can be read as a push back against extreme egalitarianism and the quagmire…

Telescope Media Group is a Christian film company based in Minnesota. It’s a small family business, run by husband and wife team, Carl and Angel Larsen. Their company tagline reads, “We want to magnify Christ like a telescope.” Last year, a Minnesota court ruled that the couple were in violation of the state’s Human Rights Act which requires them to abandon their faith by using their services to create films celebrating homosexuality and same-sex marriage. According to the Alliance Defending Freedom, “State officials have categorically, publicly, and repeatedly threatened to prosecute expressive business owners who decline to create speech promoting…

Amnesty International agrees with Kristen Bell: Some of our fairy tales are sending a rape endorsing message to our children. “Don’t you think it’s weird that the prince kisses Snow White without her permission?” the Frozen star said last week. “Because you cannot kiss someone if they’re sleeping.” On Friday, ‘human rights’ group Amnesty International said Bell’s observations were correct. “So, Kristen Bell is right,” the group said on Twitter. “We need to talk about consent – and fairytales are an excellent place to start.” The group also released an alternative ending to the much love children’s classic, Sleeping Beauty,…

In 2008 an Australian man was convicted of possessing child pornography, fined $3,000 and required to enter a two-year good behaviour bond in relation to each offence. The pornographic content in the man’s possession comprised of a series of cartoons depicting underage characters from The Simpsons engaging in sex acts. Fast forward a decade, and almost identical content can now be legally streamed into your living room, thanks to Netflix’s animated series Big Mouth. The show has been described as a “raucous, delightfully vulgar exploration of puberty.” The series follows a group of children, “navigating their way through puberty, masturbation, and sexual arousal.” One…

A school in the U.K. is teaching children as young as six about LGBTQ relationships in an effort to make them more “accepting” of sexual diversity as adults. A video featured on the BBC shows six year old children participating in an exercise where they’re told to write a love letter from a prince to his male servant. “They’re going to go out into that world and find this diversity around them and they’ll find that at a young age as well,” the teacher explained. “And the more they can be accepting at this age you’re not going to face…

While Bill Shorten and Tanya Plibersek are busy trying to win the fictitious war of the gender wage gap, Labor candidate for Wentworth Tim Murray has said the Labor Party will install a full-time commissioner to deal with LGBTI discrimination complaints. “We may have won marriage equality but we’ve got more things to win,” Murray said on Facebook. “In our Human Rights Commission, we need a full-time commissioner to look after LGBTI discrimination. The Labor Party will deliver that to you. The Liberal Party will not.” “We need to restore the funding to AIDS,” Murray added. “$53 million has been…
