If the facts cannot be squeezed into a meme the level of attention those facts receive is reduced. Attention to detail is overlooked for what will best attract a view, a like, a follow or a share. Information is seen purely as a commodity.

Defaming Mohammed exceeds the limits of free speech, “goes beyond the permissible limits of an objective debate” and “could stir up prejudice and put at risk religious peace,” the European Court of Human Rights ruled on Thursday. The ruling came after the seven-judge panel upheld an Austrian court’s decision to convict a woman for calling Mohammed a paedophile. The 47-year-old woman from Vienna, known only as Mrs S, reportedly held two seminars titled, “Basic Information on Islam,” in which she detailed the marriage between Mohammad and his six-year-old wife, Aisha. According to reports, Mrs S told her class that Mohammad…

Telescope Media Group is a Christian film company based in Minnesota. It’s a small family business, run by husband and wife team, Carl and Angel Larsen. According to the Alliance Defending Freedom, “State officials have categorically, publicly, and repeatedly threatened to prosecute expressive business owners who decline to create speech promoting…

I worry that Australia is sleepwalking its way to disaster. Political correctness, identity politics and cultural Marxism have run through our institutions at an astonishing rate. Sometimes I’m asked why I wasn’t saying these things when I was leader of the Labor Party in 2004. The answer is straightforward: none of these issues were current 14 years ago. They simply didn’t exist. Australian politics has been through a remarkable period of change. Prior to the election of the Rudd Government in 2007, the budget was in surplus, our electricity supply was stable and affordable, political correctness had disappeared and only…

Two Christian women from Phoenix, Arizona have been threatened with jail time and heavy fines after they refused to create custom artwork to promote gay “weddings.” The Arizona Court of Appeals ruled that Joanna Duka and Breanna Koski, owners of Brush & Nib Studio, are required by Phoenix law to create artwork for same-sex wedding ceremonies because they “cannot discriminate against potential patrons based on sexual orientation.” According to Life Site News, “Not only are the Christian women threatened with jail time and fines should they refuse to create artwork celebrating gay ‘marriage’ because of Phoenix law, they could also be…

A few weeks back, reacting to the maiden speech by Katter’s Australia Party senator, Fraser Anning, who broadly (and in some areas of his speech, recklessly) called for a review of Australia’s immigration policies, Australian senator, Lucy Gichuhi, (who was born in Kenya) asked the question: “At what point do you become an Australian?” Lucy’s answer was, “…when I get a citizenship paper! Full stop! Period! Finished!” I follow Senator Gichuhi’s political posts. I supported Senator Bob Day, of the Family First party, passing his position over to her after his election win was declared invalid because of a candidacy conflict with the Constitution. I…

From the start of his candidacy, I’ve considered Donald Trump a diamond in the rough. It’s a working hypothesis that I’ve held onto in the face of an onslaught of fear and dire predictions about his alleged “reign of terror”, a lot of which came from almost everyone I know (theologians and pastors included). Joining the bandwagon condemnation of Trump, in order to spread fear, was always a darkened side-road best left in the rear-view mirror. Minus a few friends and two years on, this hypothesis still stands strong. While I believe that God can transform, and still is in…

U.S. President Donald Trump has said he will address left-wing censorship of conservative news and online content, calling it “a very serious situation.” In a two-part post tweeted earlier today, the President said, “Google search results for ‘Trump News’ shows only the viewing/reports of Fake News Media. Free Speech Coalition writes: Axiomatic Events director, Dave Pellowe, has sent Victoria Police a letter explaining why he is refusing to pay the invoice for $67,842.50 they sent Axiomatic for police services outside the Lauren Southern & Stefan Molyneux Live event in Melbourne on 20 July. The letter from Axiomatic’s solicitor highlights concerns that, despite the skill and bravery of police on the ground in dealing with the violent behaviour of extremist individuals and organisations like Antifa, the government appears to blame the victim. Such a penalty gives the appearance of enabling the Thugs’ Veto, adding to the injuries extremists can…

With the rise of Islam, and the anti-Christian left, is it now possible that we have a resolute Christian as PM who is committed to the faith more than in name only; do we finally have a man who will defend the Faith? Last year, in an interview with Fairfax Media, Scott Morrison vowed to personally defend Christianity saying, he will not allow religious freedoms to be eroded in Australia. The then Treasurer said, “It all starts when you allow religious freedom [to be eroded], mockery to be made of your faith or your religious festivals – it always starts innocently and it’s…

A proposed Code of Conduct, which is open for public submissions until August 17, could force doctors to accept ‘cultural beliefs and practises’ that are opposed to good medical practise, according to a group of doctors. The Medical Board of Australia draft code of conduct that will apply to all Australian doctors requires doctors to be “culturally safe” and comply with a patient’s beliefs about gender identity and sexuality, with no provision given for a doctor to differ in their professional judgement. A doctors’ group convened by Dr Lachlan Dunjey of Perth, has expressed concern for the future of medicine…

The Islamic Council of Victoria has received  $2.4 million in taxpayer funds since 2010-11, a state government investigation found. The inquiry was launched after it was revealed last year that the Islamic Council called for taxpayer-funded “safe spaces” for Muslims who wish to vent extreme speech. According to the Herald Sun, the report which they obtained under the Freedom of Information laws, found “the Islamic body had probably used public funds to cross-subsidies some ‘unfunded activities’ as was common across the not-for-profit sector.” Taxpayer funded programs for the Islamic Council included a $570,000 “empower Muslim youth” grant. From 2012-16, a…

Tommy Robinson has been moved to a Muslim majority prison, according to those close to him. Author Raheem Kassam said on Twitter, “Tommy’s human rights are being violated as he was moved to a new UK prison last night, without warning or reason. He is now in a very heavily Muslim populated prison in the Midlands in England.” Kassam later added, “I am told the decision to move Tommy Robinson from a relatively safe prison to a highly unsafe one came from the UK Home Office — which means people need to be asking questions of Sajid Javid, Britain’s new…

This article was originally published on Mark Latham’s Outsiders. I worry that Australia is sleep walking its way to disaster. Political correctness, identity politics and cultural Marxism have run through our institutions at an astonishing rate. There’s not enough public awareness of where these changes have come from and what they mean for the future. Media headlines focus on each controversy in isolation. But we need to understand the overall pattern. The Left has launched a cultural invasion of Australia based on the concept of ‘fluidity’. Everything we thought was fixed in our understanding of the world – such as…

What comes after same-sex marriage? You only have to look to the countries that have already redefined the institution to get an idea. Here are twelve examples. Example #1: John Bercow, Speaker of the House of Commons, has argued that the fight for “equality” is not over until churches abandon their faith. “We don’t want to behave like it’s all over [now that SSM is legal]… I still feel we’ll only have proper equal marriage when you can bloody well get married in a church if you want to do so, without having to fight for the equality that should…
