Islamic militants have carried out yet another attack on a predominantly Christian village in Nigeria, killing up to 13 Christians and leaving another three wounded. An environmental group, headed by former Greens candidates, has celebrated the destruction of a local woodchip mill after it was set ablaze by out of control bushfires on the NSW south coast. The NSW Police Force announced on Monday that they have so far taken legal action against more than 180 people for more than 200 bushfire-related offences in the past two months. Australia’s current bushfires have nothing to do with climate change and everything to do with fuel-loads, according to scientist and bushfire expert, David Packham AO. Five years ago, Mr Packham, a former bushfire researcher at CSIRO, warned that unless there is a drastic increase in annual fuel reduction burnings “a massive bushfire disaster will occur”. At least 10 Christian hostages in Nigeria were murdered by Islamic State terrorists on Christmas Day. The slaughter was reportedly carried out by the Islamic State West African Province (ISWAP), who claimed the killings were to avenge the deaths of their leaders Abu bakr al-Baghdadi and Abul-Hasan Al-Muhajir in Iraq and Syria. A university professor has been sentenced to death by a court in Pakistan after being found guilty of blaspheming Islam on Facebook. Junaid Hafeez, a 33-year-old lecturer at the Bahauddin Zakariya University in the central Pakistani city of Multan, was accused of posting derogatory comments about Muhammad on social media in 2013. A man in the US has been sentenced to at least 15 years in jail after burning an LGBTQ pride flag that was stolen from a church building. Adolfo Martinez, a 30-year-old from Ames, Iowa, was sentenced to 15 years on Wednesday after being found guilty of committing a “hate crime”.
