Video has emerged on social media of Victorian Police breaking into a home and arresting a man for allegedly promoting a lockdown protest on social media.

The incident, which was today live-streamed on Facebook, shows at least five police officers demanding access to James Bartolo’s residence in Melbourne after accusing him of “incitement”.

Filming from an upstairs balcony, Bartolo is heard asking the officers to explain their intent. The officers say they have a search warrant and warn Bartolo that if he does not open the door they will force their way in.

After about 2 minutes and 30 seconds, officers then begin breaking into the property. The video shows Bartolo running downstairs where he is met by the officers who promptly arrest him and cut the live stream.

The arrest comes just days after Victorian police were filmed handcuffing and arresting a pregnant woman in front of her young children for promoting a lockdown protest on Facebook.
