Stay Home, Save Lives… Unless You’re Gathering in Thousands to Protest Racism

ONE minute the media are telling us the Coronavirus is so lethal that we dare not leave our homes. The next minute the media are enthusiastically reporting on a massive crowd marching through the Sydney CBD. One minute police are threatening to arrest us for sitting alone on a park bench. The next minute police are standing idle as thousands of protestors stand shoulder-to-shoulder in Martin Place. One minute the State Premier insists it is unsafe for more than 50 people to gather for worship. The next minute the State Premier is silent when 3000 people gather to show solidarity…

Amnesty International Says: Government Should Force Christian Schools to Employ Non-Christians

AMNESTY International insists that Christian schools should be stripped of their right to prefer staff who practice Christianity because this is discrimination, and discrimination is not fair. At present, religious schools are allowed to preference job applicants who subscribe to their religious values. But Amnesty argues that this is not fair to applicants with different values. If people with values contrary to Christianity are unable to work at Christian schools then they will be left with no alternative but to seek work at one of several thousand public schools where their views are uncontroversial, and this would not be fair.…

Why Don’t We Replace Our Elected Politicians With Non-Elected “Experts”?

Is it time to replace our elected politicians with non-elected experts? We have always voted representatives into public office. But perhaps that has been our problem. They were representative of us! Who among us is an expert, fit to adjudicate on the big questions of life? These days most of us are flat out just trying to work out what to watch on Netflix! Surely the past few years have proved that Abraham Lincoln’s “government of the people by the people for the people” should indeed perish from the earth. Increasingly I wonder if a better model for society might…

Are Bureaucrats Creating Unnecessary Restrictions to Cover Their Own Behinds at the Expense of Ours?

THE decision to close the Queensland border to protect citizens from the spread of Covid-19, like many other decisions the State’s Chief Health Officer has made, is just for show. It has nothing to do with protecting Queenslanders and I can tell you this because I travelled across the border and was shocked at how easy it was. But more of that in a moment. The border was closed at the end of March and today State Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk announced that it might not reopen until September. “It’s not my decision, it’s based on the best health advice,” she…

If We’re Not Winning the War on Drugs, Should We Legalize Them?

I hate to admit it, but there seems little point trying to hide the obvious. We’re losing the war on death. Despite billions of dollars being spent on health care every year, people are still dying. The experts tell us that despite our best efforts, death is inevitable. In spite of this, I don’t hear people calling for a cut in health spending. Nor do I hear people calling for the closure of medical centres and hospitals. It is a curious situation because we are also losing the war on drugs, and that revelation always brings calls for radical changes…

Leftists Push for Coronavirus Measures to Stay and Fight Climate Change

LEFTISTS have turned to alchemy to try to transform the Covid-19 pandemic into their fabled climate emergency. Former ABC journalist Quentin Dempster tweeted on Thursday: “Australia’s National Cabinet should stay on to coordinate decarbonising of energy/transport/manufacture to urgently mitigate climate change.” Well no, Quentin. If I wanted Daniel Andrews to run my life I would move to Victoria, lock myself in my home and vote for him. The National Cabinet, formed by the PM to help steer Australia through the pandemic by determining such things as whether or not we may see our mums on Mother’s Day, should be disbanded the moment the…

The Health Department Needs to Advise Which of the 100 Genders Is Least Susceptible to COVID-19 so That Everyone Can Identify as That One

THE UK Health Department announced yesterday via Twitter that Coronavirus was having a disproportionate impact on “certain genders”. A few people – who had completed junior school biology – immediately wondered what chance the Health Department had of containing a world-wide pandemic when they hadn’t yet worked out there were only two genders. A ninth-grader told news media: “When the Department says certain genders are more likely to contract Coronavirus, they need to be more specific about which ones. “And if they are pushed for time, maybe they could just pick one of two available genders that actually exist.” He…

Field Hospital Shut Down Because Volunteers Are ‘Bigoted’ Christians: ‘Their Continued Presence Here Is an Affront to Our Values’

WE are continually warned that doctors who believe in traditional marriage might deny medical treatment to gay patients. Amazingly, the New York City Council has turned this on its head and decided to deny gay patients to doctors who believe in traditional marriage. That’ll teach the bigots! New York City Council Speaker Corey Johnson announced at the weekend that it was “time for Samaritan’s Purse to leave NYC”. He tweeted: “Their continued presence here is an affront to our values of inclusion, and is painful for all New Yorkers who care deeply about the LGBTQ community.” Samaritan’s Purse, a Christian…

From Valuing a Degree in Gender Studies to Valuing a Job at the Supermarket: COVID-19 Has Changed Things Overnight

JUST YESTERDAY a university degree in gender studies was valuable. Today a job at the supermarket is valuable. Yesterday a share portfolio was prized. Today a stash of toilet paper, hidden away in a bathroom cupboard, is prized. Yesterday all a woman wanted was Chanel. Today all a woman wants is hand sanitizer. Yesterday we dreamed of taking a holiday in Italy. Today we just hope the Government will let us out of our homes. Yesterday we dreamed of being CEO of a major corporation so as to dominate the business world. Today we dream of hosting a Zoom meeting…

Atheists Have a Problem

RENOWNED English novelist Ian McEwan lamented the fact that atheists don’t speak out more about the value of their philosophy. The implication being that their silence is evidence of apathy or even fear of persecution. McEwan, whose book Atonement was turned into a major motion picture nominated for six Oscars, told The New Republic: I think it is important that people with no religious beliefs speak up and speak for what they value. It is a bit of a problem, the title ‘Atheist’ – no one really wants to be defined by what they do not believe in. But it…

The COVID-19 Dictionary

THE Covid-19 epidemic has completely changed the world, including the way we speak. Words that only yesterday meant one thing now denote something entirely different. This helpful Lexicon will give you the vocabulary to successfully navigate your way through the crisis. Airline: A company that owns lots of planes that don’t fly anywhere. Celebrity: A multi-millionaire who sits in a mansion telling you not to complain about being stuck at home with no job. Climate Change: A term you might vaguely remember from a distant past. Covid-19: A virus charged with doing to Trump what neither CNN, the Democrats, nor…

Those Who Complain About Over-Population Never Volunteer to Be Part of the Solution

IN THE fight against Covid-19, it is disconcerting to have people barracking for the virus. The latest cheer-leader for the epidemic is Australian model Elyse Knowles who this week described Coronavirus as “a gift” given to the planet. “Mother Nature has proven to us all that by minimising the collective human footprint, our world can take a breath and re-set,” she told online magazine A Conscious Collection. As of this morning, 183,063 people had died of Coronavirus. Ms Knowles didn’t say how many of her fellow citizens would need to be ‘minimised’ before Mother Nature, behaving more like a wicked…

The Media Warned People Not to Drink Poison Because They, Like Most on the Left, Believe the Public Are Stupid

I have long believed that the news is what you get after events have been filtered through the media’s unreasoning hatred of Donald Trump. This was confirmed again on Thursday when Trump wondered aloud whether doctors might come up with a way to inject people with disinfectant to kill the Coronavirus. American political commentator Brian Tyler Cohen reported: “Trump is now promoting injecting coronavirus patients with disinfectant.” Trump did not promote any such thing. He simply asked whether it was an idea doctors might look into. The Washington Post reported Trump’s question as a “dubious medical tip” as if it…

A Transgender Woman Walked Into a Church…

JASON identified as a woman and was quick to point out how he would like to be addressed: “My name is Jason. But I’d prefer to be called Joanne. Or Jay.” I held out my hand. “Nice to meet you, Jay.” Jay looked relieved. I think Jay was expecting an argument about biology. Now we could have had that argument because I don’t for a second believe that Jay is a woman. Jay is a man in a dress. And I don’t believe surgery or prescribed hormones can turn Jay into a woman; though I’m sure treatment would help Jason…

Despite What Mainstream Media Says, a Christian Prime Minister Is a Cause for Hope, Not Fear

FROM the moment Pentecostal church-going Scott Morrison became Prime Minister his Christian faith has been the subject of hot debate. Commentators on the ABC’s The Drum wondered if Morrison might try to turn Australia into a theocracy, forcing everybody to memorize the Bible and speak in tongues. Twitter lit up with people worried that Australia’s most famous church, Hillsong, might suddenly control the whole country, swamping the nation with positivity and catchy tunes. That the church Scott Morrison and his family attend is not part of Hillsong was completely missed on social media where the comfort of opinion is rarely,…

It’s Hell for Everyone When Politicians Play Theologians

A STRANGE thing happened at the last Federal election. Labor politicians demanded to know whether or not the PM believed gays would go to hell. Israel Folau, a deeply religious and outspoken footballer, had posted on Instagram that homosexuals (among others) would go to hell unless they repented. Labor wanted to know if our deeply religious Prime Minister agreed. But Labor did not go far enough. It is all very well for the political class to establish that gays are safe from eternal damnation, but what about the rest of us?  We, too, need our political leaders to provide assurances…

The Safe Space Where Cultures Go to Die

When Catholic Archbishop of Hobart Julian Porteous wrote a booklet entitled “Don’t Mess with Marriage”, it never occurred to him that the Tasmanian Anti-Discrimination Commissioner was about to mess with him. The Catholic bishop was merely doing what Catholic bishops do. He wrote a booklet outlining Catholic doctrine for Catholic parents interested in Catholic teaching. That’s when a transgendered activist and federal Greens candidate stepped in. The activist complained to the Commission that the booklet was insulting. As well as an apology, she demanded that Catholic Education implement a lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex awareness program for all staff…

Abortion Is Bad for Girls: Systematic Discrimination Against Females Starts in the Womb

THE BRAVE new world in which we live makes it difficult to know how to react to research that suggests certain ethnic groups might be aborting girls because they prefer boys. A 2018 Latrobe University study of more than a million births in Victoria found that, in key migrant communities, there were as many as 125 boys born for every 100 girls. This was a male birth rate 20% higher than if nature was left to take its course. Lead researcher Dr Kristina Edvardsson said the results were evidence that “systematic discrimination against females starts in the womb”. “We believe…
