Dove’s latest campaign, which is designed to help women feel more represented in media and advertising, has suggested the Islamic definition of modesty is “beautiful.” Getty Images has also jumped on board for the #ShowUs project to produce the largest photo library “created by women and non-binary individuals to shatter beauty stereotypes.” The goal of the campaign is to offer media and advertisers a “more inclusive vision of beauty.” One of the adverts used to promote the project features a Muslim woman wearing a hijab. Ninety per cent of sexual assaults at public swimming pools happen in unisex change rooms.
New statistics reveal the vast majority of assaults at public swimming pools in the UK take place in unisex change rooms. According to data obtained by The Sunday Times, almost 90% of reported sexual assaults, harassment and voyeurism in swimming pool and sports-centre change rooms happened in unisex facilities. Of the 134 incidents reported in the UK last year, 120 of those were carried out in gender-neutral change rooms, while just 14 took place in single-sex changing areas.
