Another day, another high-profile personality accused of sexual assault. But it really shouldn’t take us by surprise.
Matt Walsh has highlighted some shocking statistics about porn usage in his piece: We’re A Nation Of Porn Addicts. Why Are We Surprised By The Perverts In Our Midst? What’s even more staggering is that the results are based on just one porn website. The stats reveal:
- In 2016 over four and a half billion hours were dedicated to porn.
- There were over 90 billion video views.
- A total of 44,000 visitors every minute of every day.
- 500 thousand years worth of porn was consumed in one year.
- Since 2015, one million years have been spent watching porn.
- 80% of men aged 18-30 admit to watching porn regularly.
- Almost 70% of men aged 31-49 watch porn.
- 50% of men aged 50-senior citizen age watch porn.
- 30% of younger men admit to watching porn daily.
- 20 years ago the porn industry was worth $750 million.
- Now, the porn industry is worth $97 billion (about 100 times higher).
- For women, the top 10 most searched for terms included: ‘threesome,’ ‘step dad and daughter,’ and ‘extreme gangbang.’
- For men, the top three searches were: ‘milf,’ ‘step mom,’ and ‘step sister.’
Walsh concludes by warning things are only going to get worse, suggesting our porn-addled culture “moves people through all three stages [of becoming a sex predator] rapidly and at a very young age.”
“The first step in becoming a sex predator is to see sex as an entirely selfish exercise. The next is to deny the humanity and dignity of the other person involved. The final stage is to develop a fetish for the weird and the depraved.”
Walsh’s article is thoroughly disturbing, but well worth the read.
