‘Mother’ and ‘father’ BANNED from official school paperwork because it discriminates against gay parents.

The Australian: The French parliament has voted to banish the words “mother” and “father” from official paperwork in the education system to tackle discrimination against gay parents. Children’s documents will instead refer to Parent 1 and Parent 2. The move has angered conservatives and Christians who argue that it signals the country’s moral decline. Groups fiercely opposed to gay marriage have called for civil disobedience if, as is widely expected, the move is approved by the Senate. Read the full story.

Stop Muslim immigration: Tribunal says Sonia Kruger’s comments following deadly Islamic terrorist attack ‘vilified’ Muslims.

Sydney Morning Herald reports: Sonia Kruger vilified Muslim people when she called for Australia to close its borders to those of the Islamic faith during a segment on the Today show, but did not engage in racial vilification because Muslim people living in Australia are not a race, a tribunal has found. In a decision on Friday, the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal said Kruger’s “vilifying remarks” in July 2016 “amounted to a stereotypical attack on all Muslims in Australia” and had the capacity to “encourage hatred towards, or serious contempt for, Australian Muslims by ordinary members of the Australian population”. The final and most barbaric attack was during an Eagles of Death Metal concert at the Bataclan theatre. 90 innocent lives were taken and later reports found that many of the victims were disembowelled and raped, which had to be…

The West is becoming hostile towards Christ

Indulgence in nostalgia is commonplace amongst those who are getting on in years. A check to it comes with the warning in Ecclesiastes: ‘Say not, “Why were the former days better than these?” For it is not from wisdom that you ask this’ (Eccles.7:10). Yet we are also encouraged to learn from the men of Issachar who had ‘understanding of the times’ (1 Chron.12:32). So it is with some caution that one might point out some of the increasingly obvious features of the Western world today. First, it has lost any notion of a moral foundation. One is unable to…

The solidarity of suffering: From racism to empathy

The solidarity of suffering is a field of mutuality that lies unexplored. It’s all to easily drowned out by the noise and antipathy of protest. The online activity of the masses, from anonymous activist to celebrity conformist, misses the opportunity to untie the tangled pathos that cements individuals into collectives, and brands them as possessions of “party-lines.” Not all human suffering is equal, but all human suffering is equally painful. To exist as if another person has no idea about what suffering is, is to dismiss suffering. Take for example, a family with a history filled with conflict and abuse.…

Misleading ‘Christian’ slogans are dangerous when they are a substitute for solid biblical truth

There is a strong element of disguise and deception in the spiritual battles that we face. In Paul’s day there were false apostles who disguised themselves as apostles of Christ, following Satan who does great evil while appearing to be an angel of light (see 2 Cor.11:13-15). The covenant people of God are thus warned against slogans that appear to be spiritual truths but which turn out to be false or at least misleading in some way. Presently, Virginia law only allows for abortions during the third trimester if three doctors agree that continuing the pregnancy would result in the mother’s death or “substantially and irremediably” impair her mental or physical health. Kaitlin Bennett has asked students at the University of Cincinnati about their thoughts on the Covington Catholic controversy and the threats of violence the students received following the incident. “Are you willing to disavow all the death threats and all the threats against the students at the school?” Bennett asked a man at the university. “No, sorry,” he replied with a shrug. “They are minors! Do you think minors should be getting death threats?” Bennett asked. “I can’t care for them one way or the other,” the man went on to say. “They would look at me and probably call…

Is there anything more irritating than a millionaire Socialist complaining about how other people spend their money?

Is there anything more irritating than a millionaire Socialist complaining about how other people spend their money?

Elizabeth Warren, whose estimated net worth is said to be $18.5 million, took to Twitter to complain about Dan Snyder’s new $100 million superyacht. Warren tweeted: “This billionaire NFL owner just paid $100M for a ‘superyacht’ with its own iMax theater. I’m pretty sure he can pay my new #UltraMillionaireTax to help the millions of yacht-less Americans struggling with student loan debt.” This billionaire NFL owner just paid $100M for a "superyacht" with its own iMax theater. Australia Day protesters have no idea what they’re protesting.

Avi Yemini has hit the streets of Melbourne again, this time to speak with folks protesting Australia Day. Well, something like that, at least. They’re just not really sure what’s going on. “Are you against Australia Day?” Yemini asked a protester at the rally. “Yeah,” the man replied. “What’s the problem with Australia Day?” Yemini asked. “I’m not quite sure. I’m not from here. I’m not a local,” the man responded. Another protester told Yemini that the problem with celebrating Australia Day on 26 January is that, “on this day James Cook arrived in Australia.” Actually, James Cook landed at…

Restaurant fined for telling biological male not to use women’s toilets.

A restaurant in Washington D.C. was fined after staff attempted to prevent a biological male from entering the women’s bathroom. Cuba Libre was ordered by the city to hand over $7,000 and install a sign declaring: “all individuals are allowed to use the restroom that corresponds to their gender identity or expression.” The incident occurred last year when, Charles Clymer, who now identifies as a woman named Charlotte, was asked to leave the restaurant after insisting on his right to access the female restroom. The police were eventually called and reportedly said the law was on Clymer’s side. The following…
