You’d be forgiven for thinking this footage came from another universe. In late 2015, Stephen Colbert opened The Late Show by telling his audience, “We have a great show tonight. Donald Trump is here.”
The announcement was followed by cheers and applause. “Everybody loves him,” Colbert said. Colbert went on to praise Trump for doing a “fantastic job,” and for running for president.
“Speaking of doing a fantastic job, you are setting the world on fire right now… I want to thank you, not only for being here, but I want to thank you for running for president.”
