Police in London arrested a Canadian street preacher after it was alleged he made ‘homophobic’ remarks. David Lynn, the Toronto based preacher, was arrested under Section 4 of the Public Order Act, which prohibits “threatening, abusive words or behaviour.” “You’re under arrest for making homophobic remarks,” the officer said. “We’ve had an allegation made…” “How can I be under arrest for an allegation,” Lynn asked. “Section 4 of Public Order, ok?” the officer replied. The Great Censorship Purge has begun. Facebook has permanently banned InfoWars for the broad and ambiguous crime of ‘hate speech.’ Apple also reportedly wiped iTunes and its podcasting app clean of content by Alex Jones, following similar moves by Youtube and Spotify. “It’s a coordinated purge,” Paul Joseph Watson said. “This is a total abuse of power.” “Whether you love or loathe Infowars, this now confirms that Big Tech is working with legacy media to silence independent media. In places like Russia, the government shuts down the press, in America, CNN, Apple and Facebook fulfill that role.” Watson revealed Facebook…

The draft claims to “distill the policies and enduring values that Labor aspires to implement in government.” But the Australian Christian Lobby has pointed out, “hidden on page 183, we can see the party is seeking to launch and extraordinary attack on people of faith and parent’s rights.” The document states: Labor opposes the practice of so-called conversion and reparative therapies on LGBTIQ+ people and seek to criminalise these practices. “This is shocking stuff,” the ACL said. “It means that…

When asked if New Zealand is hostile to free speech, Ardern replied, “I think we’re hostile to their views.” “Look, they’re here because there were no grounds to block them being here,” Ardern added. “That does not mean we welcome their views.” “I think you’ll see from the reaction they’ve had from New Zealanders that their views are not those that are shared by this country and I’m quite proud of that.” So much for tolerance and…

The Australian Labor Party’s consultation draft claims to “distill the policies and enduring values that Labor aspires to implement in government.” According to the document, “all Australians have the right to exercise their freedom of speech” (p.187; 120), but with that freedom comes the responsibility not to “harm” others with your words. “Australia’s anti-vilification laws strike an appropriate balance between the right to free speech and protection from the harm of hate speech” (121). Words, either written or spoken, can cause actual harm, beyond “mere offence,” according to the ALP. Those who abuse the “responsibilities that come with freedom of…

What’s wrong with censorship? Isn’t it good for a society? Not necessarily. Brendan O’Neill suggests censorship actually infantilises people. “Censorship treats us as these children who have to have our ears and eyes covered by gracious people in positions of authority so that we never hear things that they’ve decided on our behalf are wrong or incorrect or offensive. “Everyone is reduced to the level of a child and as a consequence, your moral and mental muscles get weaker and weaker because they’re never called into use.” WATCH:

Senator Cory Bernardi has said there needs to be a frank discussion in Australia about religious freedom, identity politics and political correctness. “The issue is about how do we maximise freedom in this country, freedom of speech, freedom of association, without getting bogged down in too much identity politics or political correctness.” WATCH: Senator @corybernardi says we need to have a frank discussion about religious freedom, identity politics and political correctness in Australia https://t.co/1NRmb6WDWW #auspol #freespeech #freedom #religiousfreedom #ssm pic.twitter.com/Znow2qms3n — Aust Conservatives (@AuConservatives) July 11, 2018

John Anderson, former Deputy Prime Minister of Australia, has said freedom of association is up there with free speech in terms of things we must defend. Speaking at the Church And State Summit 2018, Mr Anderson said: “It’s an incredibly important right in a free society. In a free society people need to be able to organise. They should have the right to belong to a sporting club. They should have the right to belong to a political party.” Watch:

Senator Cory Bernardi has told Sky News he will defend Sonia Kruger’s right to freedom of speech after the Civil and Administrative Tribunal refused an application by the Nine Network to have a racial vilification complaint dismissed. The complaint came in 2016 after Kruger endorsed an article by columnist Andrew Bolt during a segment of the Today Show. “I mean, personally, I think Andrew Bolt has a point here, that there is a correlation between the number of people who, you know, are Muslim in a country and the number of terrorist attacked,” she said. “Now I have a lot…
