Indonesia’s 560 members of parliament have voted to give themselves a staggering 88 per cent pay rise, with each member receiving almost $13,000 per month. In Indonesia more than 17 million people still live on less than $2 per day, according to the World Bank.

Indonesia’s House of Representatives has also suggested giving MPs an additional $189 million to spend as they see fit. “That’s just over half of the $357 million that Australian tax payers give to Indonesia each and every year as aid,” said Rowan Dean on Sky News.
