The ABC thought it was a bright idea to introduce their young viewers to transgenderism (the medical term is Gender Dysphoria). Recently, they aired a 17 minute program on ABC Kids called, ‘First Day,’ which looked at a young school boy’s transition from Thomas to Hannah. The program can be viewed here.
The decision to introduce Gender Dysphoria to young viewers is irresponsible and dangerous, especially so considering only last month the ABC shared the following:
Young people who suffer gender confusion are at “an alarmingly high risk for suicide and serious depression.” According to the Trans Pathways, almost 80% of transgender people aged 14-25 had self-harmed, a rate 69% higher than the general population. Young transgenders are said to be 10 times more likely to suffer from serious depression and anxiety. And a staggering 48% of them had attempted suicide, compared to 2.4% in general. In short:
Trans: Self-harm (79.7%); Attempt Suicide (48.1%); Depression (74.6%); Anxiety (72.2%)
Non-Tran: Self-harm (10.9%); Attempt Suicide (2.4%); Depression (7.7%); Anxiety (7%)
What’s further troubling is most children grow out of transgender feelings. According to Dr Paul McHugh, former head of psychiatry at John Hopkins University, 70-80% of all children with transgender feelings grow out of it. Dr McHugh went on to say, “policy makers and the media are doing no favors either to the public or the transgendered by treating their confusions as a right in need of defending rather than as a mental disorder that deserves understanding, treatment and prevention.”
